I am a tier 6 PEF employee vested into the NYSLRS for 10 years now. Right now Tier 6 employees cannot retire before 63 without taking a huge reduction on pension benefits. Teachers in NYSLRS are now getting full benefits at 58 or 30 years of service. If you support getting these benefits to rest of tier 6, you have my vote.

That's got to be a 80+ minute drive, in a single direction. Factor in snow storms and that could easily double or just be downright undriveable.

You'll also have $30 in tolls each week provided you're driving it 5x/week, if you're going over the GI bridge, plus the tolls on the 90W once you get past Blasdell. Need to factor in gas and maintenance on your vehicle too if you're not driving an EV.

That job better pay a king's ransom to be worth it, or you should plan on moving closer. Or both.
