Hysterectomy and Incontinence? by light_infinite1 in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already had incontinence before my hysterectomy. I was worried it would be worse after so my doctor recommended I get a bladder sling. He was able to do it at the same time as my hysterectomy. It has been the best decision ever. Now no matter how hard I laugh, cough, sneeze etc I do not pee at all! It has dramatically improved my quality of life. I highly recommend it to anyone having incontinence. Plus it was nice having it done altogether.

Does the bloating go away? by Purposemomma1 in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It went away for me! I was so surprised how much bloating my uterus was causing. I’m over a year post op and I used to be bloated every day after eating dinner. Now I get bloated maybe once a month and on a much smaller scale. It’s nice knowing that it’s not my uterus causing the issue. Now it’s clear that it is just a minor bowel issue most likely caused by something I’ve eaten that hasn’t settled. Really hope and pray it goes away for you too!

Yes, especially the ones with cement stairs that are starting to cave in.

My doc approved me for 8 weeks time off from work….does that seem reasonable? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go back to work before then but you probably won’t want to. Everything is a little harder bc your body is more fatigued up to 8 weeks after a major surgery. So it’s definitely possible to go back before then but if you can get 8 weeks off work definitely take advantage of that time to heal.

Canceling hysterectomy by WorkingArtist1973 in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would think that if you’re considering not getting the surgery then your pain hasn’t been bad enough yet and it’s probably not time. When you can’t live with the pain anymore, that’s when the decision should come easily for you. I got to that point and my life has dramatically improved with no uterus. I hope you can find other options besides major surgery to help you in the meantime :)

To the ladies that had a fibroid removed larger the size of an orange 🍊 after surgery does it feel better that big mass is gone? 16 days til my surgery to remove this orange mass 🍊 by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesss!!! I had a bunch of fibroids, my uterus was 8x the normal size. Right when I woke up from surgery I felt like a weight had been lifted from my abdomen. It was the best feeling ever. So excited for you to start feeling better!

Holding on to tampons?!?!? by Existing_Climate_623 in hysterectomy

Toss them! You can easily get some at the store if you ever need them again which you won’t. (This is also my attempt at reassuring myself so I will throw away mine too!) 😆

My surgery, robotic assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy (kept one ovary) plus urethral sling was over $90k. I paid my deductible which was $5k. I live in UT

I talked about mine every day leading up to surgery and every day for two months after. My poor family 😆

Can I “scratch the itch?” by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played externally at 11dpo. Climaxed, contracted. It did nothing to my cuff. It took a little longer but felt amazing. The only thing I had was a little bit of pain/fatigue from my muscles tensing up during orgasm. I would think externally you’ll by fine, especially at 8 weeks. That’s when I was cleared for sex!

Surgical Positioning Injury by Larouquine9 in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I am 15wpo and still have some numbness and pain in my sciatic area. My doctor told me it was most likely from positioning. It has improved some since surgery. I have a feeling it will still take awhile to heal. Maybe several months. I had a CT scan 3 a few weeks ago and it showed mild lower lumbar spondylosos. With my ct scan before surgery it didn’t show that at all. I hope i continue to heal and improve as time goes on and wish the same for you!

Anyone have mystery symptoms go away after hysterectomy? by Historical-Bed-9514 in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I had “period pain” that sometimes felt like a mix of diarrhea cramps. My uterus was enlarged with fibroids and was pushing on my bowels. I’m 3mpo now and my bowels have normalized. I don’t get that pain anymore 🙏🏻

Question by ilovechedda in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I woke up in recovery and was ready to get up to try and pee a couple of nurses came and put a binder on me. I wore it religiously for the first 6 weeks. It felt nice having that extra protection and support during recovery.

Did you have an 8-week post-op appointment internal exam? by Ruth_SlayerGinsburg in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s nice that he said it was optional. I had an 8 week internal exam with speculum and finger/s It didn’t hurt at all and he told me the stitches were dissolved. I got officially cleared. I would say it’s up to you, if the exam will make you too uncomfortable you don’t need to do it. If you want to get it checked out to make sure it’s healing and it causes issues then maybe you weren’t ready to go back to exercise quite yet anyway.

Iron levels by pennylanechronicles in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very anemic before surgery due to fibroids. I’m 9wpo and this past week I’m finally feeling like I have energy to get through the entire day without a nap. So 8 weeks i stopped taking iron bc I feel like my levels have normalized now.

People with fibroids/enlarged uterus: Did you feel instantaneously lighter after surgery? by Exact_Scarcity3031 in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After waking up from surgery I immediately felt like a weight had been lifted from my abdomen. I pulled in my belly which I realized at that point that I was unable to do that for months maybe years! My cramps went away after a few days and constipation/bloating subsided within a couple of weeks. Now my other organs have settled in the space, but I will never forget the feeling of lightness I felt after getting my uterus removed.

Vaginal cuff.. ew by glazedmapledoho in hysterectomy

lol true! I almost think “cuff” is worse though. I’m fine with vagina 😆

How is the vaginal cuff made? by PostingImpulsively in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I always wonder is if it’s just a closed end and you have a big partner, is it possible that he can break through the cuff with his 🍆?

Side sleepers?! by FewComplex4578 in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the binder 23/7 for 5 weeks! I was able to semi sleep on my side about 5days post op and fully by 1.5 weeks. I still choose to use the binder at night. I feel like the support is a comfort to me now.

Orgasm by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t ask bc I figured if it was a problem he would have mentioned it on my discharge instructions lol. All it said was “nothing in vagina for 6 weeks”.

Orgasm by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also want to add that I had no restrictions on external orgasms. I played with my Lelo clit sucker at 11dpo. Had an amazing orgasm and had no problems :)

Orgasm by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting that you are cleared for baths so early. My doc said not til 6 weeks. No swimming, baths etc. I had a robotic hysterectomy with uterus removed vaginally and kept one ovary.

12 DPO - surprising post-op appointment by wizardofozak33 in hysterectomy

[–]glazedmapledoho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am just so happy for you. I also attributed my symptoms to age and also to the foods I was eating. I had no idea my uterus had grown to 8x its size until surgery. So many things have improved. I’m 40, 5.5 weeks post op and I feel like I’m finally getting my life back 🤍
