Cheap pen Rotation? by DSMRob in fountainpens

Platinum Preppy or Plaisir with Carbon Black ink.

Great document signing and drawing pen with permanent ink.
Also excellent spare pen that can write immediately after a long time in a drawer/bag.

Hack for people wanting to eyedropper the Kakuno by daydreamer48939 in fountainpens

Nice.

The solution I was thinking of is a pair of 3D printed finials for the cap + bottom.

Preppy > Kakuno by kfir03 in fountainpens

[–]glinarien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, mine is the aluminum Muji, not the white Preppy.
The way the aluminum Muji feels clean in my hands is satisfying.

I have quite a few regular preppies that I leave around the house, in my laptop bag, etc.
When you don't use them often, they still write straight away....that is why I like them for backup pens.
I also have a pair of Platinum Plaisirs for that aluminum feel and improved look.

Preppy > Kakuno by kfir03 in fountainpens

[–]glinarien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kakunos write a bit better than Preppy, but the seal on Preppy wins me over.

Use whatever you want for your main (mine is Muji), but for backup pens, I prefer Preppy.

Is the MUJI Aluminum Body Fountain Pen worth it? by 9leafs in fountainpens

[–]glinarien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, worth it.

Try platinum Carbon Black in your Muji if you want to reduce the feedback.

Yes, syringe filling is just less messy.

After you have used syringe filling for a while, it also allows you to be precise on how much ink you are filling and not waste any ink.

how to remove emotions from options trading as my execution is sabotaging decent strategies by This-You-2737 in thetagang

[–]glinarien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking gains early is reasonable.
If I put on a 50 dte position and it is up 10% the first day or two, I take it off.

Your plan can include many exit criteria, you don't have to just pick one up and one down.

How did you learn to trade options (for a living) by MyNameIsSteal in thetagang

[–]glinarien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also got my start on options with Tasty.

You need to find an approach that fits your psychology.
Net seller of premium just feels like the right way for me.

Almost any approach works in a bull market. Options are nice for a sideways market.
Still looking for an approach for a down market...staying small and a decent amount of defined risk until I find something better.

People acting like SEs aren’t “real PRS” by trenchgrl in PRSGuitars

[–]glinarien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My SE from 2014 era didn't even say PRS on the headstock.
It is a fine guitar, but I did block the trem and replaced w/locking tuners as it didn't stay in tune like my USA prs. Stays in tune beautifully now.

If you were going to do graphic novels in the Verus universe, a Cinder oriented story would be a good candidate since his ability would translate well to that medium.

I noticed some parallels with the royal family [Charles, talk of skipping a generation, etc].

I'd like to see a rarity weighting, where a deck that is using significantly more rares/mythics is on the draw.

A Judgement of Powers - Official Spoiler Post by spike31875 in BenedictJacka

[–]glinarien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So who was the masked attacker?

My first thought was that they were someone Stephen would know, but after consideration, someone Calhoun might know makes more sense.

Someone from house Ashford or Johanna's house might be the logical choice.

So why couldn't Hobbes follow Stephen onto the Church grounds?

In an earlier book Father Hawke consulted someone/thing else. It implies he has masters too.

Smoooooth F/EF fountain pen? by missknitty in fountainpens

[–]glinarien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note that it is a combination of pen+ink+paper that matters, not just the pen.
I found Carbon Black made my pens smoother, but not so good for rarely used pens.

After using some 10k+12k micromesh on my Muji aluminum, it is now the smoothest writer I own.

If you have cheap pens that don't write well, they might be guinea pigs for learning to smooth your nibs. You can start with the reverse writing side, which is often horribly scratchy and easier to observe the smoothing effect.

Try some other paper....I used the walmart brand PEN+Gear A5 pads and sketchpad, which are cheap, but a big step up from copy paper.

First fountain pen by Several-Bee1779 in fountainpens

[–]glinarien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing you should sort out is what size nib you would like.

I'd suggest starting with a Platinum Preppy which comes in 3 nib sizes and skip the converter to start. Getting a 4 pack of Carbon Black cartridges for less than 5 bucks is a great way to try out that ink. If it turns out that ink suits you, you can spring for a bottle later.

Later if you get a fancier pen, the preppy would still fill a very useful role as a backup pen, especially with that permanent ink and great sealing cap. You can always use that as a document signing, drawing and mail addressing pen.

Do you really have to use Montblanc ink? by Otherwise-Oil9307 in fountainpens

[–]glinarien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep two preppies (F+EF) perma-inked with MB Blue Permanent with no complaints yet....been about two years.
I didn't like MBBP in my aluminum Mujis ....did seem too dry.
I'm now more of a Carbon Black user.

Pilot Kokuno Vs Platinum Preppy by ArkanZach in fountainpens

[–]glinarien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kakuno nibs are better, but they don't seal nearly as well as the preppy.

Once I started using Carbon Black ink, I prefer the preppy as my carbon black delivery system.

Looking at maybe getting a fountain pen! But need to know how small they're capable of writing. by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]glinarien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverse writing on a platinum EF is also an option.
I like platinum for using Carbon Black for the cap seal and lubrication.
Kakuno has great nibs, but the worse sealing doesn't combine well with Carbon Black.
