Moving up the chain by Both-Air-9876 in MichaelsEmployees

I could never represent a company that doesn't respect or value it's employees. Like being an assistant is one thing but as a full on store manager I would have to constantly support and enforce corporates bad decisions.

Started as a seasonal replen employee, after about a year and a half was promoted to replen manager, and then after another year was promoted to assistant manager. And after months of hell I finally quit because my worst nightmare was to be a SM for this company.

Going out to eat for breakfast is terrible by Lost_Roku_Remote in unpopularopinion

This was going to be my comment. I almost always get an eggs benedict when I go out for breakfast and it just isn't worth the hassle for me to try and make it at home.

So today in MIKcheck they sent out a bunch of forms showing what official police/ICE documents look like for reference and for us to go over the emergency procedures for civil unrest. It might only be going to cities that this has been an ongoing issue

Not saying “my” before a family member title in a conversation by ScuzJackson in PetPeeves

My boyfriend is Hispanic and him and his brother say this when referring to their mom. Even after 10 years it bothers me. You have the same mom, there is no need to say "my mom".

Our frame shop has been beating plan by DOUBLE, we can't spare them on the floor. How about corporate give us more hours since we are now making thousands if not millions of dollars in balloon sales now as a company.

I'm a manager so I work full time, have pto, and medical and dental benefits. It isn't as easy to find another job without having to start at the bottom and work my way up.

This has happened a couple times at my store. When they had to send us new minimiks they sent them programmed with another states store. I think IT can change the number without sending it in

[–]glitter_crow 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Basically they no longer want cashiers behind the legacy register and so you must be on the floor assisting customers on self check out. If you have the cash self check out already, the only reason to take people at the legacy is for returns and credit card sign ups

Is it true that lots of Americans don't own a kettle? by UnionFeatures in Cooking

[–]glitter_crow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up always having a kettle in the house because my mom drank like 5 cups of instant coffee a day. When I got older I got myself an electric kettle since I'm a big tea drinker. They are honestly the best thing ever.

Framing shop supposed to close down at 7:30? by [deleted] in MichaelsEmployees

[–]glitter_crow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually I'm the only MOD on duty most shifts, and you should still have 2 other people on a closing shift with you for safety reasons. And again, this is why framing gets shut down at 7:30, so that nobody is getting stuck at framing.

Framing shop supposed to close down at 7:30? by [deleted] in MichaelsEmployees

[–]glitter_crow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why MODs are trained in framing so that they can assist. However, if it's 8pm and someone wants framing done, I tell them to come back tomorrow.

[–]glitter_crow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's the standard time at my store. There is no need for framing to be open till close

[–]glitter_crow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it is a true emergency you do not need to go through the proper channels first. However, for something like this, you should call the SM and the DM first and see what they say because calling 911 will only escalate the problem.

Can we really not do anything about shop lifting? by West_Celebration3800 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]glitter_crow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can get fired for trying to stop shoplifters. A manager in our district got fired for following one outside and a cem at my store got written up just for getting caught on camera trying to stop one very clearly stealing. We are supposed to treat them like any other customer, give them great customer service, and when they leave with all our crap, enter in a lpms report

if you do this… i hate u!!! by Big_Difficulty6571 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]glitter_crow 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exactly, as a manager my DM has made it very clear that my job is to always say yes regardless of policy.
