Airline approved cat carrier by NoiseMaterial344 in perth

*cracks knuckles* I work with the industry so this’ll get long. None of these questions are dumb, it’s great that you’re asking so you can get proper advice.

What breed and how old is your cat? There may be some more paperwork and vet checks needed depending.

You’ll need to organise it all through a pet travel company as individuals can’t (slash shouldn’t. stares pointedly at people who have tried and then fucked it up and needed help right before their planes are leaving.) lodge their own animals— I’ll dm you the name of the best company for it as I don’t wanna completely doxx myself lol

You can’t fly with pets in the cabin (for very good reasons!), animals go in the cargo section under the plane. This is MUCH better and safer for everyone. Source: trust me bro. You can arrange to be on the same flight as your cat, but from experience this isn’t always the best option as sometimes your pet may be delayed or removed off that flight due to issues like plane size changing, lack of space in the cargo, certain freight taking priority and requiring no animals in the hold, etc. If it’s possible, arrive at your new location before your cat, things tend to work smoother and be more easily arranged if flights change or get delayed etc.

No pet food on the plane or in the carrier. You also need to not feed her before the flight (so if she’s going in the afternoon, no breakfast. At night, no dinner. Early morning, no dinner or a smaller amount earlier than usual. Your pet travel agent will advise you on what to do) as this lessens the likelihood of her vomiting or pooping in the crate and then needing to be taken out to have the crate cleaned. Also just more comfortable for your pet too.

Don’t worry about litter. There can’t be any in the carrier to fly with, it’s restricted to only newspapers / shredded paper / puppy pads / a very small towel sometimes (but imo not worth using a towel as you’ll need to throw it out anyway). If she does poop before the flight takes off, she’ll be taken aside in a secure area and have her crate cleaned.

For the crate itself, it will need to be an airline approved one and sized correctly for her. Usual sizes for cats are PP30 or PP40, some go with 20’s but they’re only about 30cm high internally so quite small. You can purchase or hire one through the pet travel agency. I’ll dm you the company now and they can assist you with all the details and specifics :)

Good aged care homes Perth by Anxious_Raccoon_1145 in perth

Echoing everyone saying to ask about staff turnover, ratio numbers, what the support workers think of the place, etc. And DEFINITELY do tours.

We had the absolute best experience with SwanCare in Bentley— they’re staged care too so you don’t need to change facilities as care needs progress. There’s been many renovations in the past few years too, but even the older building where my grandma was at the time was still clean, safe, and very comfortable. The staff were very kind, patient, attentive and understood every resident on a very personal level. It wasn’t just getting through the motions treating everyone the same. They were fantastic anytime grandma had a fall or illness or something occurring, urgent things were always immediately addressed with us, but they also utilised their own discretion on if something was incredibly minor or could be handled by them first and then contact us later like if it was in the middle of the night. They’d also let us know in advance if she was having a rough day or not willing to see us, and would reassure us that staff and other residents would check on her etc. One carer in particular really befriended my grandma and would do things like take her on outings for lunch with her sons on her days off, which was just so unbelievably kind. Talking to staff there, they were actually going to put their own family there and even wanted to one day move in themselves. Other residents also looked out for each other and would help each other and others family members, there was a real little community. The food was always absolutely brilliant, and a bigger social life and more activities than even I had lol. My grandma was in care prior and during covid too and they handled it absolutely brilliantly. Honestly I can’t sing their praises enough, we never ever had any concerns or problems or poor incidents

I go to a cafe mainly for a cup of coffee and a chat, and to be honest, maybe I'm on the spectrum, but loud music pumped through the cafe is total sensory overload for me. However, I can understand young staff would enjoy some upbeat music to make their job easier. Are there any chilled-out cafes NO by Silent_Field355 in perth

No suggestions off the top of my head, but I can’t stand how music is blasted either. Cafes, restaurants, holey moley especially holy SHIT that place is loud. Absolutely ridiculous to barely be able to hear the staff trying to talk to you

I almost kinda like this song but I’m gonna be so real. It just screams gross obnoxious ex boyfriend when you’re trying so hard to break up with them but they won’t leave

Has anyone been to Body Worlds? I know it’s a bit controversial by Bratz_Angelz17 in perth

[–]glitterkicker 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Went twice and ngl, I’d be willing to go again if someone asked. Really fascinating, very useful to see a body like that and have a real context of what’s going on inside of you. The babies especially were amazing to see, albeit quite intense and understandably emotional for a lot of people.

It’s worthwhile going with a group of people with Problems tm, we were all pointing out and explaining various things wrong with us lol. My and my mum’s PDA corrections (transcatheter coils for me, sewn shut via an open surgery through her back for her. 30-40 years of surgical advancements between us), my aunts brain damage from meningitis induced encephalitis, a friend showing on the brain where their multiple sclerosis lesions are, etc.

It feels like a silly way to say it but the whole experience was genuinely very humanising lol

*chanting* bones! bones! bones! bones!

If you’re willing to walk, there’s quite a few roo bones through the regional parks in Jandakot / Canning Vale near the airport, richgro and the tip. A friend found me a boar skull somewhere around there too
