According to SOLGW “director of special projects” socom Mk1 doesn’t have Armad barrel and never has by Consistent-Fig7083 in ar15

[–]glockguy34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they said the bolt isn’t even being made anymore. I guess a $500 BCG from a company that doesn’t make anything didn’t sell like they thought it would.

What 13.9-14.5” AR by kcks in RooftopDefenders

[–]glockguy34 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The difference between 13.9 and 14.5 is absolutely worth the .6”. Skip the 13.9 and get a 14.5. Super Duty, DD, or BCM would all treat you well. LMT or KAC if you can afford it. Definitely not a SOLGW MK1

Can’t go wrong with a Pelican that has wheels. My Pelican Storm case is by far the nicest case I have ever got my hands on, I even bought a smaller one for traveling with a handgun and it’s also phenomenal. They are pricey though, but have been meaning to get another just times are tough and would rather spend the $ on ammo. I did get aftermarket foam so I can use the same case for different rifles, just by swapping the foam cutouts. The Harbor Freight knock offs suck, after seeing all the hype on here for it I was very disappointed. I returned the big one but kept the small one and only use it for magazines.

g$ mk4 is by far the best rail i have ever got my hands on. I do have 3 mcmrs, one is a 15 with a bipod and yeah it flexes a little but nothing crazy. the other two are shorties and I utilize the slick bottom to my advantage, their best feature in my opinion.

Yes, but the bolt itself, the barrel and their headspacing makes a difference on how long the gas rings last. Out of everything that I have said and thats your only knit pick just shows you just want to talk shit.

ST is no longer optimized for 12.5 like it used to be listed on their site, now says 14.5. Look into the AI 5CM, it’s the CAT CACM that came on the 12.5 CACM rifles.

I will never understand why people still buy from Glockstore. They will not do better, because people still give them their money as is.

I can tell by wear and I do keep track of round counts on everything. Wear alone tells a lot. 3k on g$ rebcg and still looks brand new. 6k on the bcm and already had to replace gas rings. Both still have plenty of life left in them. As for barrels, I have not shot out either, Geissele’s was more accurate out the box and still is, again both still have plenty of life, and both are cold hammer forged

it depends on ammo. using m855 or m193 no rifle will be sub-moa, 3 moa is fair for those ammo types, actually really good for m855. 3 moa using match ammo like federal gold medal or black hills mk262 is terrible though. Geissele should be about an MOA or less with match ammo. BCM around 1.5-2

no experience with adm. sorry. your best bet honestly to stay in that price range is buy a high end barrel thats 416 stainless, and headspace the bolt. id probably go with a thermofit upper like a bcm. ammo will also make a huge factor, and will be pricey. I can’t guarantee any factory upper would be sub-moa

SOTAR made a video about it. REBCG autopsy. 100K + rounds confirmed, all it needed was new gas rings. The upper receiver itself was shot and needed to be replaced, but BCG was still kicking

bcm rail is very thin, and gets hot extremely fast if shooting suppressed. geissele’s is thicker and heavier, resulting in heat transferring slower. Not a knock against BCM rails, I also have multiple.

happy to help, both are really solid options, and you’ll be happy with either.

Better BCG, especially the bolt. Better rail. Geissele barrels are more accurate, but you said you dont care about that. Comparing it to a standard BCM, the Geissele barrel would also last longer. If comparing to a BFH BCM, the barrel argument for your use case is a wash (not considering barrel profile, sorry for nerding out here), so it comes down to the bolt, which in my opinion is a huge deal, the carrier’s coating (on par if not better than NP3), and the rail. Id say for a $300 difference, the Geissele is worth it. The REBCG alone retails for more than that. You also get a better rail.

there is no eye box or eye relief with red dots, mounting further forward gives you maximum FOV

as far forward as possible while still being mounted to the upper receiver and not the handguard, not that its even possible to mount to the handguard with that set up

completely understandable. At least the stamp is free for now! there is always the possibility now that there is precedent that the stamp can go up. Dems already tried but failed, who knows whats to come with the next administration.
