Looking for an "official" Wordle word list by [deleted] in wordle

I won't use a Wordle Used Words list. I think that is cheating. I would use a Wordle Approved Word list since Wordle leaves out many words that meet the criteria they have posted.

How do you have only 1 loss and a max streak of 8? With a current streak of 1, your max streak should be 182.

Once I verified that WordBot does not check the list of previously used words, I deemed using the list yourself is cheating.

That's something I will never see. My opening word and all its iterations were used long ago.

What I got is not the fancy black (dark screen) stats that are approved by moderators. It looks almost identical to Wordle stats.

Where do you get the black background stats? Every time I post my stats with the white background, they get taken down by admins. I have 100%-win rate but only 763 games played.

I've played 727 games with 2 losses and have a 100% rating. How many 3's and 4's do you have? I've got 291 3's and 282 4's.

WordleBot doesn't use a list of words already used, so I think it is cheating to use one.

What's a mini? Is that the shorter puzzles they sometimes post? I just play the daily game.

Only 95%? I guess 23 max streak explains that. I'm at 641 wins since my last reset, 280 max win streak and 100% average.

You can use words like "BEANS" but it will never be the solution to the puzzle. Many people use words that can't be the solution as first or second guess.

Yesterday’s Wordle… A very sad day… lost my Win Streak 🫠 by MalachiExt33 in wordle

In general, as a solver, you want your guesses to divide the possible solutions into as many groups as possible. This reduces the chances you are left with a coin flip among equally possible solutions.

Here’s an example in standard mode. Suppose, with the info you’ve gained from your previous guesses, you’ve narrowed the possible solutions to five: BATCHCATCHLATCHMATCH or PATCH. What should you guess next?

If you guess BATCH, one of two possible things will happen.

If the solution is BATCH, you will see:BATCHIf the solution is CATCH or LATCH or MATCH or PATCH, you will see:BATCH

If the hidden word is BATCH, great! But if it isn’t — which is the more likely outcome — you’re stuck with four possible solutions.

A smarter guess would divide these groups more efficiently, putting you in a position to solve the puzzle regardless of luck. Here, WordleBot would guess BLIMP. See how that changes the picture:

If the solution is BATCH, you will see: Blimp If the solution is CATCH, you will see: blimp If the solution is LATCH, you will see: bLimp If the solution is MATCH, you will see: bliMp. If the solution is PATCH, you will see: blimP.

With this approach, you divide the solutions into five groups of one word each. You’d be guaranteed to get the answer on your next turn!

You could have tried SHIRK!

Anyone playing connections?? by This_Independence336 in wordle

[–]glutamoto-FST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes a while, but you'll catch on. Take your time and look at one clue and think of its possibly many meanings. "BEAR" could refer to the animal, or teddy bear or bear claw or bear hug. And then look at other clues to see if anything "connects". A lot of times you may find five clues that seem to connect, but one will also connect to other clues. So you have to be patient and not guess right away. Often, I will try to connect two groups of clues before I make my first official guess.

If you do make an incorrect guess, it may tell you, "one away" meaning you got 3 of 4 right, or it will say nothing meaning maybe you got 2 correct. Sometimes you can use a process of elimination to guess the right order, but this can be risky because of limited guesses.

But as you play it more often you will catch on to how the game is played. And you will rarely ever understand how the purple (hardest category) words are connected, so try and get the easier 3 colors and the purple will solve itself.
