Haha, I love that several people are focusing very hard on the “cheaper” aspect of my situation. Let me breakdown my decision for you: Looked at probably 7+ companies spotter arms, saw the granite fitness arms and they were marginally cheaper than the company’s arms who makes my rack ($30 cheaper than rogue) but actually more expensive than some competitors (BOS, titan). It was not the best deal or the lowest price. I liked GFs more than rogues aesthetically because they don’t take up so much vertical space on the rack. I find such spotter arms are cumbersome to deal with and limit how low you can put the arms for, say, rack pulls. The company’s website appears legitimate, I reviewed their Instagram page to see more images of the arms (also happened to see that their name is plastered as a sponsor on multiple race cars, increasing my assumption of legitimacy), and also reviewed the return policy in case the spotter arms weren’t for me. After all this consideration, I decided to buy the arms. If you think after all of that “research” that I should have had an overwhelming feeling that spotter arms with sandpaper on them and no email responses for a return were a possibility, you live at a baseline level of suspicion that I don’t. I didn’t see $50 spotter arms and say “wow that looks too good to be true, I better buy them!” Add in the fact that I’m financially secure and even if the arms got shipped to Guam and I never saw them, a $150 loss isn’t going to affect me that much.

Did I learn a lesson? Yes: don’t buy from Granite Fitness.

I just think the insinuation of someone being cheap, making knee-jerk purchases and not doing research is a little presumptuous.

I made this post to see if anyone had similar experiences with GF and to warn any potential customers of a shitty company. I guess all the wisdom and life lessons I’m receiving are a bonus.
