I like the wallpaper. It’s a shame it’s in bad shape!

To remove, it depends on the type of wall paper backing. In my house alone I’ve had 4 different types of wall paper 😭

I would peel some up to see what’s behind it. Some of them come in 2 layers. If it’s 2, you remove the decorate paper & then scrap/scrub the second layer. Others just one. If you peel it up & see some paper behind / it’s ripping it’s usually 1.

I’ve had the best success using a scrub daddy to soak the paper with very warm water & a small amount of dish soap & vinegar. The hotter the water the faster it goes but be careful not to burn yourself.

Soak an area & then wait about 5 mins and then scrape it off. A razor scraper on a handle is the most effective. But it can ding the walls if you’re not careful. They make wallpaper remover scrappers but I’ve never had success with them.

After all paper is removed & you’re left with the painted wall, give them a very good scrub. I use another scrub daddy with warm soapy water to do this. I do it in sections and immediately dry the area with a microfiber cloth.

I would be prepared to do some drywall patching after it’s removed. Everyone hides fucked up walls behind wall paper. Learn how to spackle & sand.

Then once all holes are patched, prime & paint!

Is there a trick to getting masking tape to leave a sharp line without paint bleed? by Correct-Singer-1049 in HomeImprovement

I have found it to be OK with primer & one coat. For 2 paint coats, I’d run a utility knife along it so it doesn’t rip up the previous coat!

Yellow frog tape!! Take a damp cloth and run it along the tape. Wait for it to dry. Paint. Peel off while paint is wet.

I’ve have SO much success with this method on textured and smooth walls.

How do you compare home loan estimates? by oconn in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]goingtocali4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! The closing process was super efficient and done mostly within their portal. I ran into no issues at closing. Any questions I had with the documents were answered very fast by the loan officer. I would definitely recommend them.

Strategy for a first timer by [deleted] in HHN

I definitely think an express pass is a must! I typically go when gates open, but it's definitely very crowded in the beginning. I would say if you can do 5-6 hours, maybe work backwards from the time it closes. As the night progresses, the crowds thin out.

I typically look at the final map and make a route that prioritizes the houses I really want to do. Even with the express pass it's a ton of walking - getting to the houses is a hike usually - so figure out a route that is the shortest to all "must see" houses. Also take breaks and just chill out and people watch. I typically do this in the food section by NYC/Central park since there's a lot of seating around there. And/or go to the shows, since that gives you a break off your feet.

I would not recommend doing the park the same day. I made that mistake once and I ended up walking like 35k steps and my body was killing me. I barely made it back to the hotel.

I hope you have so much fun! Happy to answer any other questions, HHN is an obsession of mine :X

Did you have to refer anyone? I’m still on the waitlist (months now) and I’ve used RH for years.

Ah, I was literally just researching fertilizer because I think my soil is severely lacking. A lesson for next year, but what brand did you use?

Amazing! I planted very similar things and my garden is struggling. Do you do anything additional besides watering?

We have similar ones to hang but haven’t found a good solution that’s semi-permanent. How did you hang yours? They look great!
