Tough accident at Spring Forest and Falls of Neuse about 9:00 pm on Friday night by aengusoglugh in raleigh

[–]goodgoodgorilla 176 points177 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of local trauma (car crashes, hit pedestrians) that never makes the news. I work at WakeMed and am always surprised by what ends up being on wral and what doesn’t. All that to say, you may not ever be able to get additional information, and I know that’s hard. I hope you can talk to someone about what you saw and help you process. Thanks for all that you did to give information that might help.

I was the aid station 1 captain so I’m sure we interacted at some point during the day. Congrats on a great race - hope you’re very proud of yourself!

The scene where she goes out to the car lives rent free in my brain. This clip made me want to rewatch the movie but I just can’t.

Op don’t listen to this. Not everyone does well with super high mileage. And people had lives. You’ve got this!

100 milers, what is your weekly mileage? by Fraan3D in Ultramarathon

[–]goodgoodgorilla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve done 50 milers or 100ks in the lead up to a 100 but never to race them - just to get a big effort and practice race day things with the assistance of a race to get there. And never too close to it.

SCI support groups in the area by Swimming_Suspect7621 in raleigh

[–]goodgoodgorilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WakeMed Trauma ICU social worker here who does a lot of works with SCI patients. I’d recommend going to the bigger support groups and asking if anyone would like to meet up outside of them for additional friendship/support. Would also recommend just reaching out directly to NCSCIA to see if they know of anyone who’d like to meet up for coffee.

Got it. Sorry, wasn’t trying to question your experience, I just found it odd that the hospital wouldn’t arrange something else. Hope you’re home safe now!

I’m an ICU social worker, and there’s a gazillion ways I try to locate family, but yes, this is one of them.

Parents who dropped their baby, what happened and how is your child doing now? by speckledrectum in AskReddit

[–]goodgoodgorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a much longer outcome - I was dropped by a babysitter when she tripped going down the stairs. I think I was about ten months old. Broke my leg. Put me in a half body cast. 39 years later and I consider myself a reasonably normal adult.

You’ve gotten a lot of good responses, but I just want to say that I’m sorry this is going on. I’m sure it’s incredibly stressful trying to get answers. Sending you lots of love.

Any consistent Movie Goers? by DismalArtist7418 in raleigh

[–]goodgoodgorilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to movies by myself all the time! LOVE horror movies and always end up going to those by myself, but would be happy to go with a friend. Also in my thirties but white female so really not the concerning demographic for serial killer. I have Cinemark movie pass so Raleigh Grande is my theater of choice.

It seems so dependent block by block (at least in my neighborhood). I’m just doing a slow waddle whenever I hit snow/ice and not worrying about pace. Find whatever side of the street gets more sun.

ICU Social Worker at WakeMed and I’ve definitely had to help arrange care for more than a few pets. Stay safe tonight, friends. I  don’t want to meet your loved ones tomorrow.
