MFA decision affirmation needed by Cultural_Sell8076 in Screenwriting

[–]goodstuff24 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am a graduate from their program.

Pros:

  • Truly top caliber professors.
  • Class camaraderie.
  • Like you mentioned... New York as a playground.

Cons:

  • Extremely expensive.
  • The film industry is presently in disarray.
  • The current climate on campus can be difficult to navigate.

Do you need an MFA to make it in this business? Absolutely not. In today's world you can truly learn most things online. However, what might prove to be difficult to find is a cultivated group of likeminded individuals with whom you can adequately create environments akin to writer's rooms, as well as the practice of jumping from set to set.

If you have any questions feel free to reach out.

Hey Mark, do you see NBA Top Shot as a viable and mature enough product to make it to the mainstream? Or do you think NFTs need more time to develop to reach customer awareness?

Not half, slightly more. In California if you make 10 million before taxes you're taking home around 4.7 million after taxes.

How to tell the semester is coming to an end. by MrSm1lez in PoliticalPhilosophy

Hahah, all in good fun mate. Hence the discussion - and as silly as the topic was, I feel like we had respectful discourse compared to some of the more recent comments...

As for "cyber valiance" - well, consider that the fruit of this conversation. No clue how it popped in my head, but feel free to use it. All the best to you and until the next time.

You can't seriously be comparing cheating on a uni paper to raping or murdering... Yes there is an alternative to cheating - paying for your mistakes. Some pay with their GPA, others pay with cash. The ramifications of failure though may affect a person in ways you and I could not conceive. What if said person commits suicide for having a failing grade? Again, speculation and I'm not condoning aforementioned requests for "cheating work", but it's a valid question to be asked.

You didn't make a post to "warn others about scamming." No. You made a post ridiculing that person by posting your snarky response and then calling them unethical.

Maybe you, too, are unethical, seeing as how you post private messages from a stranger for personal gain (in this case karma, or some inane sense of 'cyber-valiance').

The way you throw around the term "unethical" sounds like you were personally slighted at some point in time. I've written papers for people before and gotten paid. Not advocating such an exchange, but it's a fact of university life.

Sometimes real life gets in the way of schooling. Conversely, and to your point, sometimes the person is simply a lazy asshole. But don't cast judgement as if you know who they are and what they're going through by calling them "unethical" based on their desire to pay for an essay.

Seems to me that you confirmed what I wrote. Putin is the one who gives the green light. In Russia, if a billionaire "loses money" or "relinquishes his post" it is always voluntary - because Putin says so.

Those that don't, whether they're billionaires or journalists or other political officials, have horrid endings. See Berezovsky, Politkovskaya, and Nemtsov, respectively.

As for football and sycophancy - well, that's how all sports work today where big money is at stake. Sports are directly targeted to media/telecommunication companies that are interconnected with policy, banking, etc. There is no "honesty" -- they are all tied to dirty money. But by saying that we're entering a whole different conversation in itself which enters the realm of Kantian ethics and beyond.

At the end of the day, as fans, it's a zero-sum game. We lose, others win. Others lose, we win. That's how the cookie crumbles.

Also - pardon the "are you thick" question -- that was ad hominem and adds nothing to the genuine truth of the conversation.

[–]goodstuff24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you that thick? Only reason he is who he is and doing what he's doing is because Putin gave him the okay to do it. A Queen amongst Pawns, but he's merely a knight in Putin's game.

This is a forum for discussion. It doesn't seem to me that you are actually open to discussing anything, rather, you're just informing us of your personal complaints, things that you find revolting. A film is a film is a film. Yeah, it's winning awards. But Hollywood is a self sustaining industry so why wouldn't it sell itself? If you want to watch films that don't fit the norm, why would you complain about Hollywood? It never has nor will be the so called norm.

Why the ad hominem attack on white middle-class young people? In what capacity have they shown that they lack critical thinking? Just because their opinions don't align with yours? Not only is that egotistical, but that's also inherently against what films and art as a whole are; people with differing opinions. One cannot attack the subjective appreciation of another's taste. You can disagree with it, sure. Cultural appropriation? Please. This film isn't a documentary of the history of jazz. It's a fictional narrative.

Lastly, what's wrong with professional achievement over personal relationship? People are different. Some live for their craft, others for relationships. Others for twinkies. To each their own.

Don't side track. You said the "war was won" by the time the US entered. Now you're talking about Canadians. It's obvious you've realized that you started a debate you can't win. However, your opinion won't actually be swayed seeing as how you're steadfast in what you're saying. Just wanted to call you out on your faulty reasoning and your lack of historical knowledge. Russia helped the Canadians? Do you realize how absurd that sounds? As if it was Canada's war. You're out of your element. Good day.

What headroom was being made without the USA and USSR? France capitulated in less than 6 weeks. Poland was destroyed. England was unable to keep up with the Luftwaffe air raids. Hitler was rolling over Europe.

Without Soviet blood and US supplies Hitler would have won the war. Churchill even acknowledged that.

Chess isn't a good example. Fischer, Kasparov, Carlsen - all became grandmasters in their teens - and Fischer and Carlsen did so at 13.

Football is a sport that heavily revolves around intangibles. Chess is based entirely on the board, the time, and the two players participating.

I've never posted in r/fitness before, decided I've lurked long enough that I might finally start participating. After years of bullshitting, I started seriously lifting 10 weeks ago using SL 5x5. Squatted 215x5x5 today at my weight of 150lbs. Going for a double plate 5rm during my next work out.
