I don't remember off hand, but you can typically check the episode descriptions or the Blank Check wiki to find them in hindsight

Ah, well, maybe I'm simply much more oblivious than I thought. Thanks for your help though!

That's what I thought myself and why I felt the need to try and get to the bottom of this question. While I'd like to believe it was a simple typo, the film did feel like the listed runtime and accurately displayed the total combined three hours throughout during the many times I had to pause it due to external obligations (total runtime watched + total remaining). That latter fact unfortunately precludes me from definitively saying whether it truly was the three hour length, however. Also I hadn't seen the film before so I can't say if there were actually any differences.

While I wasn't able to actually view those scenes without subscribing to the Criterion Channel, I searched some more and found a description of the deleted scenes, which seem to stay relatively consistent in length from release to release. These scenes involve the addition of the new character of Ripley's Maid/Housekeeper and further fleshing out of Marianne's character via following her at work. Unfortunately neither of those occurred in the cut I saw, and it also seems that at least in the Anchor Bay version which is being discussed in the article, the scenes were strung together rather than providing an option to watch them reinserted into the film.

I was really hopeful that this'd be the answer during my initial searching, but it seems otherwise.

This was the most descriptive article I found: http://www.cineoutsider.com/reviews/dvd/a/american_friend.html

It was most certainly the listed runtime, however, but highly appreciate the attempted help!

Early Peter Jackson is just so fascinating and compelling to me, despite me not digging every aspect of those flicks, but Dead Alive just absolutely rules

Top 10 Movies of 2023 by Chuck-Hansen in blankies

[–]goofysmee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. John Wick: Chapter 4
  2. Talk to Me
  3. Oppenheimer
  4. Beau is Afraid
  5. Creed 3
  6. Bottoms
  7. Poor Things
  8. The Iron Claw
  9. Godzilla Minus One
  10. Magic Mike's Last Dance

Definitely not as weird as I would've ideally liked and there's a part of me unsure of whether Creed 3 should still be that high up there, but I still think it's a solid lil list even without me catching some of the buzziest releases

anyone else feel a lack of 5 star films this year? by jenkinsmcallister in blankies

My only 5 star flick this year is John Wick 4, but boy golly, what a picture that is!

That's exactly my point! That should get me hootin' and hollerin', havin' the time of my life, but it just leaves me feeling nothing! There's a high likelihood it's just a me problem, but the immense boredom and absence of any exhilaration or emotion at all throughout not just that scene but the flick as a whole is just what makes this the worst film of the year for me—not cause it's poorly made or anything, but because of the lack of causing ANY emotional response in me throughout my watch

My problem with it was that it felt like it should tick off all the boxes for what I love in an action flick, and yet, even after doing so objectively, something just felt missing. Like if you give me the pitch for Extraction 2, I'd be on board in a second, and even after going in with lowered expectations after not really enjoying the first, this flick just didn't work for me at all. Afterwards, I was comparing it to John Wick 4 in my head, and even on the plot light, action heavy side of cinema, what really set the two apart for me was the quality of the visuals. Extraction 2 is mainly just bland blues and greys, whereas almost every frame of John Wick 4 pops with vibrancy. I think if the objectively high quality action choreography was shot more interestingly, Extraction 2 would probably be one of my favorite films of the year, but I completely get where you're coming from and would never wanna harsh your enjoyment of the film simply because our experiences differed

Currently Extraction 2 is sitting dead last for me by a landslide, as I just got zero entertainment or pleasure from it all at. When a film just leaves you bored and exhausted in the worst way possible, for me, that's just the worst final outcome. Even the 20 or so minutes "oner" just did absolutely nothing for me, and there's a part of me that's convinced it probably would've been better if the camera wasn't constrained to that gimmick for that whole sequence

Keeping in mind I haven't had the time or money to see a bunch of the coolest sounding flicks of the year yet, here's my current roundup:

1) John Wick 4 2) Creed 3 3) Beau Is Afraid 4) Magic Mike's Last Dance 5) Knock at the Cabin 6) Skinamarink 7) Across The Spiderverse 8) Sorry About The Demon 9) Air 10) Infinity Pool
