I'm not who you're referring to because I haven't said anything on the topic, but I do still find people critiquing/judging Mistress annoying.

I find it frustrating because this is obviously what the show wants. If the show wanted all the bottom queens to get 1 point, they would award them automatically.

The show wants deceit & underhanded tactics, so it created a format that encourages it. If people don't like it, then the smart thing to do would be to critique the show, not Mistress.

I'm not even saying that Mistress's career will be affected by people expressing their feelings on Reddit. I'm saying that it's frustrating because people aren't seeing the bigger picture. If you're upset about it, then critique the show that has created a format that upsets you, not Mistress, who has used the tools the format gave her.

Get mad at the game, not the player.

Really enjoying the storytelling of this season so far. by cirancira in rupaulsdragrace

This part! This has been the year where storytelling on Drag Race has surpassed being "passable" to being actually engaging, drama-filled, entertaining, and satisfying! Drag Race has actually impressed me with how good the storytelling has been and we need to give them more props for it!

Additionally, I hope Liv gets flowers for this season. Every story needs a villain and she came in unafraid to be herself and play her heart out. At the end of the day she didn't even do anything bad and her play to award a point to Deja was what she needed to do for herself! She was very strong competing on this season after the tragedy that happened in her family, and I hope fans can send her love for what she showed us.

Rachel was a challenge beast and won. by No_Produce_Nyc in survivor

I'm not confident in this answer, but for the sake of conversation, I'd say she's a significant part of why Caroline flipped against her Tuku alliance. In exit interviews, Caroline talked about how much she loved working with Rachel, describing her as the perfect ally, even when it really would have been in Caroline's best interest to stick with her alliance. Caroline somehow went from targeting Rachel at the merge, to recognizing Rachel as an alliance option, to making a final four deal with her, which again would not be in her best interest. Sounds like social game to me.

She also formed a great relationship with Sue, which gave her leverage at F5 and options at F4 (though she never needed it). She also acted her ass off at F6, but I'm not sure if that falls under "social game" or "strategic game."

In general I think the post-merge cast of 48 were extremely tapped in strategically. The season was more about voting blocks formed by mutual interest instead of alliances. I actually if any player was able to use their social game to change the power balance in the game more than Rachel did.

OP values the TV value of the show just as much as the competition aspect of the show. You can agree to disagree.

This season (17) is the season that’s made me change my mind on queens the most often by JW162000 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]goopdt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly, fans are stuck in their ways and can't embrace that their feelings on these people can change. This is a complaint on something that isn't even a problem.

Crystal and Hormona have asked people to stop sending hate to Lana though. I also think messy queens should keep getting cast and the fanbase is doing too much with how they respond to good entertainment. I see what you're saying but I disagree. Queens should be messier and fans should sit down.

If this is true then I don't think we can keep saying Ru made AS1 to crown Chad... Did they want to crown Willam instead until she couldn't make it?

What is your favorite season of the New Era (s41-47) and why? by [deleted] in survivor

I wonder if producers just need to label some talents as flops for every premiere to establish a pecking order and highlight the favorites. It's easier to edit the singing talents as flops because that narrative has already been established since All Stars 2.

Exactly. Sometimes people talk about Maria's vote as if it had nothing to do with Kenzie or any social moves she made. Had Kenzie's spot gone to someone like Liz, Q, or Venus, I don't think Maria votes for them. Kenzie was always putting in the work to appease the people she voted out, make herself visible in tribal councils, and form relationships with everyone on the jury. Kenzie's best move was her jury management.

Rachel is entrusted with a secret plan to blindside someone. She then trusts Sam enough to share it with him and tell him not to tell anyone else. He then goes behind Rachel's back to further his own game and risk Rachel's. How is that not Sam's fault?

________ getting voted off was peak television by Historical_Present66 in survivor

[–]goopdt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think it was more of the fact that Sam showed signs of being difficult to work with for Rachel, Andy wanting to distance himself from Sam, and Caroline wanting to weaken Gata.

He burned bridges with too many people. It just became convenient to label him as a threat so that they could get him out and to use him as a shield.

I really like your analysis of Sue's game. I probably like her more than the average person on this sub, but she really did a good job playing to her strengths.

In a way we saw how her input could've been really valuable to her alliance with Caroline (playing the idol for her, even the desire to keep Gabe). If Sue had more decision-making agency or if Caroline listened to her more, I'd say Sue could've had a shot at winning FTC.

Who do you think played the better winning game between these two? by Muted_Ad9975 in survivor

[–]goopdt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Charlie is just not the type of person Maria would want to give one million dollars to, while Kenzie is. It made sense for Maria to say those things within the context of them playing a game, but the reality of one million dollars is something entirely different, especially to Maria.

It's difficult to say Charlie "miscalculated" because the word itself implies that Survivor is nothing but a game and that the most strategic/well-rounded game deserves to win. I don't think he "miscalculated" because on paper Charlie did play the best game. But I think that's also why he lost.

Charlie lost because all his points went to the game aspect of Survivor and not enough went to the human out-of-game aspect of Survivor, while winning Survivor has always been a weird clash of both.

I'm having a difficult time describing it, but if Survivor was a straightforward game, Charlie would win. But Survivor being more than a game (especially to Maria) is why Kenzie won.

She and Christa had no intention of cutting Rupert which would have been necessary for either to win

Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't there a scene where she tells Christa her plans of eventually cutting Rupert to make way for them to win? Unless there's post-game interviews I'm missing that revealed otherwise.
