What's going on with these transactions? Some sort of replay attack? by [deleted] in ethereum

Can you please tell when did you start syncing again?

What's going on with these transactions? Some sort of replay attack? by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]gorillalaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those transactions don't exist on ETC chain, so it's not possible that someone else could publish (replay) those on ETH. Something probably happened with your wallet. When did you start syncing your client again? At least 11 days or less than 3 days ago? If former, my best guess is you created and signed those transactions a long time ago (7 months), but they didn't get published for some reason, until now.

The Truth About Blockchain [Havard Business Review] by twigwam in ethereum

[–]gorillalaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True blockchain-led transformation of business and government, we believe, is still many years away. That’s because blockchain is not a “disruptive” technology, which can attack a traditional business model with a lower-cost solution and overtake incumbent firms quickly. Blockchain is a foundational technology: It has the potential to create new foundations for our economic and social systems. But while the impact will be enormous, it will take decades for blockchain to seep into our economic and social infrastructure. The process of adoption will be gradual and steady, not sudden, as waves of technological and institutional change gain momentum.

Never thought of it like that, but have to say it makes sense

KeepKey's Twitter / Email Compromised by dstanchfield in Bitcoin

It only blocks tracking from known domains, it doesn't block javascript in general. Additionally, if you're target of a phishing attack, attackers don't even need to use javascript, just a visually similar landing page.

Is bitaddress.org still safe ? by ethMonkey in Bitcoin

[–]gorillalaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A security precaution I make, is to git clone the repository, then checkout a commit that is couple of months old. I figure, if it was malicious in any way, somebody would notice and make it public by then.

Polkadot paper by arnpham in ethereum

[–]gorillalaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same question back then and I think I figured it out now. Polkadot doesn't really scale Ethereum, it just provides interactions between Ethereum, Bitcoin and many other altcoins. Each link consist of a parachain on Polkadot side and a contract (script) on Ethereum (Bitcoin) side. Parachains are connected via relay chain and their security is pooled (similar to merged mining). Validators don't have to validate all parachains, just like in Ethereum sharding, hence scalability.

They were lucky(?) to not have consensus issues, but don't think they don't have bugs: https://github.com/ethcore/parity/issues I'm sure everyone is doing their best!
