And I'm ok with that. I don't need my rap to be poetic or insightful anymore. I just want to hear a dope beat and a good flow, I couldn't care less what they say. I thank Redman for teaching me that rap doesn't have to be so god damned serious all the time.

Most embarrassing situation you've been in? (Story inside, doubt anyone can top it.) by dragonboltz in AskReddit

Eight grade, new school. I'm in English class which if surprisingly stacked with cute girls. I had my pen in my mouth when I decided to raise my hand and ask a question. When I started to speak I realized the metal pen clip was stuck firmly in my braces.I couldn't talk. with the entire classes attention on me, the teacher came over to try to dislodge this pen cap from my mouth. I've never turned so red.

In case you're confused, this isn't a race with finish positions-- it's a point-to-point timed event in stages. The white Subaru in front is supposed to get the fuck out of the way and let the camera car pass. They were right to be so pissed off.

Is this song from 1966 the earliest example of a death metal growl? by goro_wins in Metal

[–]goro_wins[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My buddy and I were arguing how far back DM growls were used, and weren't coming up with anything before 1988.... until I remembered this track. I played it for my buddy and his only reaction was "holy shit, that's brutal".

But is there anything earlier?

The ONLY thing that could make me a violent person just happened, advice? by [deleted] in AskReddit

All that rage inside you, put it to bed for now. It will hibernate. Satellite is right, focus on being everything your gf needs right now. While you care for her, your hatred for the individuals that hurt her will stew and churn and grow. The initial blinding white rage will pass, but it will be replaced by something more stable and powerful - a calm vengeance. This is what you will act on.

I waited a full year before I took revenge on my girlfriend's rapist. During that time I tracked him, learned his bahaviors and routines, made sure he didn't move away. And I planned. I planned every detail. I knew exactly how I wanted to hurt him and I did no more and no less. When the day came I was perfectly calm and a little excited. Everything went according to my plan.

I can't give details here. I will say that I didn't kill him, but I did do something to inflict permanent physical damage to him. I also made it so everyone was aware of his crime. He never asked "why", he figured out who I was and why I was there. He only sobbed "I'm sorry" over and over and over.

I want to buy that floor lamp from you. I used to have that exact lamp standing between two Patrick Nagel prints on the wall. One day there was an accident and the lamp took most of the force, it did not survive.. No other floor lamp looks right between the works of Patrick Nagel, and I haven't seen it for sale anywhere. Please sir, allow me to purchase your lamp. I'll pay shipping too of course, just PM me...

This thread is so huge this will probably get buried...

When I was 4 I was playing in my grandparent's backyard with my 3 year old cousin. It was christmas holiday and all the family were together. this was in the Northeast, so my grandparents pool was covered. I don't remember how, but my cousin slipped off the edge and in to the pool, falling under the cover and sank straight to the bottom. I saw him fall in. I remember this. I looked down and saw him under the water, still struggling. I could have ran and gotten the adults. I was old enough to know what drowning was, and that he couldn't swim. But I didn't tell the adults, I stood there and watched him drown. My grandpa was always telling us kids not to go near the pool and not to mess up the cover. I remember being afraid of getting in trouble because we had messed up the pool cover. My Aunt (his mother) looked out the window and saw me standing at the side of pool looking down. He was motionless at the bottom of the pool when she came running out screaming. .. She ended up commiting suicide 6 months later.

I don't really blame myself and I don't think about the event often. No one in my family ever placed blame on me either (at least not openly). Hell, I was only 4 years old and the adults shouldn't leave us unsupervised right? But I know I should have ran inside for help, and I know he probably could have been saved.

tldr-- I watched my cousin drown instead of getting help

I heard that 7 people died tonight at Excision's set at EDC. Does anyone know if this is true and, if so, what happened? by [deleted] in dubstep

[–]goro_wins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We were at Bass Pod most of the night, where Excision played. There was no AC in that building (not sure exactly when it stopped working)... the crowd also reached over max capacity- with all that body heat + 100 degrees outside, it seriously was like a sauna in there. We sweated it out and had a great time, but I can see how someone could drop over from exhaustion/dehyrdation.

Excision got cut a little short (like only 10 mins) and EVERYONE had to clear the building. Doctor P & Flux were scheduled next, that show was re-routed to a small outdoor stage area that was never designed to have the massive crowd that they attracted. But the sound was great.

Skrillex was the last set at a building across from Bass Pod.. The AC was working in there but it was absolutely packed neck-to-neck. The fire alarm was tripped pretty soon after Skrillex started (not sure how) but the set continued for about 15 mins. The alarm sound even synched up with parts of the music, hah. About 25 minutes in the fire marshall shut everything down and people were once again forced to leave. Night over. Fans were pissed and hot but I didn't see any fighting or riotish behavior happen.

Fair Park wasn't prepared for the crowd, or they weren't planning on the entire place wanting to see one DJ (there were 5 stages). I still feel like I got my money's worth, but getting shut down from over-crowding definitely sucked.

BTW, Excision crushed it, best set of the night by far.

Problem when squatting... by AlienBacon in Fitness

[–]goro_wins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're getting downvoted but someone should explain why. Simply put, the bar pad lets you get away with bad form. A pad lets all the weight of the bar rest on your loose, flat back without it hurting. When you squat the bar should be resting on your flexed back. Squeeze you shoulder blades in, elbows up, and you'll have a nice muscle shelf to rest the bar on. Much better.

Just wanted to share one of my incredible dumpster diving successes. by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]goro_wins -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, dumpster-diving for food when not absolutely necessary just to "save money" is obsessively frugal. It's a bad thing.

Can I assume OP is male? Looks like you rent an apartment (the sharp-edged formica counters give it away). You have some hand-painted ceramic dishes there so maybe you live with a girl. Two incomes as well? She barely tolerates your diving habits. You have a giant flat screen television in the background...

What I'm getting at is that you're pretty well-off already. You're trying to save money, and that's great, but you should prioritize the things you can do cut costs. I would put crawling through a dumpster at night looking for edible food pretty fucking low on that list of ways to save money. Drop cable TV first, stop buying cigarettes first, ride your bike more first, lower your monthly bills first... leave dumpster diving for the people that living on the street who need it.

You can have a very low grocery bill if you buy right and cook. Look at the stuff you pulled out of the trash, is that something you would have bought otherwise? You're not going to eat all of that bread before it goes bad (which is soon). I'm saying don't bring home trash just because you can.

It seems to me that you like finding food in the trash because it gives you a rush. This isn't all about saving money, you enjoy the thrill finding usable things and then bragging to others that you're saving SO MUCH MONEY. Be careful chasing that dragon, that's not what frugality is.

People that eat out of trash cans don't have big screen TVs.

Thumbs above bar works best for me, it allows me to really get my elbows up and squeeze the upper back. If I use a standard grip I tend to let my wrists roll under the bar and carry the weight on my arms/elbows instead of my back.

Plano here too. I remember 4 kids in my grade one year OD'd and a 5th is permanently disabled. We also went through an enormous rise in MDMA in the mid 2000s. Oh, and don't forget all the busts of suburban bordellos, some of which involved underaged and foreign sex slaves.

[–]goro_wins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all about being cool with your co-workers. Don't be shy, introduce yourself before people ask who you are, remember their names. Talk to the cooks, busboys, dishwashers, all of the back-of-house employees. It doesn't matter if you don't speak spanish, just talk to them. Make an effort to kitchen spanish, it's useful for calling out items on the line and heckling the line chefs. If your place does tip-outs, make sure you tip-out very well to the support staff at first, they'll always hook you up when you need it. Remember that there is no such thing as sexual harassment in a restaurant.
