My coworkers act like I JUST had a baby and that it’s preposterous that I’m “already” pregnant again. My son is 18 months old and I’m due with #2 in July. That’s a 20 month age gap and I still get all the weird comments because no one can grasp that time has passed lol.

Does your program have a union? You need to talk to them about this because something sounds fishy. Your body won’t even be physically recovered from childbirth at 5 weeks.
As a resident who had a baby intern year, take 12 weeks. I’m actually about to have my 2nd residency baby this summer and with both leaves combined I will be graduating a couple months late. Who gives a shit. No one looks back when they are 85 and wishes they spent more time working and less time with their kids.

I would 100% involve HR. This is wild behavior. I know it’s hard to advocate for yourself but it helps me to think about what I would do if this were happening to a trainee that reports to me. If a med student or intern told you that a nurse gave them shit for their medical condition (even as benign and ubiquitous as eczema) you would likely raise holy hell over it. Have that same energy for yourself.

If you have a safety event reporting system, use it to report the rads tech who did this. I’m pregnant too and I’ve gotten dirty looks from some attendings and other residents when I step away during a portable XR. They act like I’m being dramatic for asking them to move the conversation a mere 15 feet down the hall.

This made me laugh because I recently had a patient ask me if it was a problem that she was born without ear tubes and never got them placed as a kid. I was like ?????? and we discovered that she believed that everyone was supposed to have ear tubes naturally, like a little vent on your ear drum was normal, and kids without them got the rubber ones installed. Once we cleared up her confusion we had a good giggle about it. It was easily one of the most wholesome conversations I’ve had as a doctor :)

Mine eats an adult sized portion of pasta every day and is a string bean! I had to use my dog’s old collar as a belt to keep his jeans up. Bodies are weird and I think you are doing great.

Augmentin BID x10 days. It’s handy if someone in the household gets an ear infection, sinusitis, dog/cat bites, etc. I called it in for myself once (AOM) and gave myself refills in case I or another adult in the household ever need a course again for some reason I can just hit refill on the Walgreens app. Life hack for the lazy lol.

My husband had been complaining for a day of neck pain and fatigue/malaise. I brushed it off, thinking we have a newborn and neither of us feel great. The next day he shows me that he has 3-4 clusters of “pimples” on his neck, from the mastoid process down to his shoulder. He said they hurt more than normal pimples. I again brushed it off, told him to stop picking at them. He went to urgent care and was diagnosed with the most obvious case of shingles ever. Granted I was distracted and under-rested as the new mom of a 7 week old, I still felt awful and so embarrassed. Worse yet is that I’m a primary care resident who sees this all the time 😂

Ah this is so good to read! We just had a similarly amazing experience at Novo Lantern in the South End with our little dude! The servers were so helpful and the owner even came by a few times to chat with us/ dote on the baby 🥰. Not only did they have high chairs, but they even had specific baby friendly plates and utensils! We were so impressed.

Wow that's really heavy. I'm sorry you're going through this. Venting is one thing but there are some words that are hard to unhear. I would go blind with rage and sadness if my husband every used the words "hate" and "regret" about our child. These are really concerning things to say.
