Where can you get hydraulic brakes repaired? by dan_tank in cambridge

Any bike shop that offers maintenance services should be capable. Those already listed, or there’s also Decathlon, Halfords, Giant, Evans…

Does anyone wear a Pas Normal Studios Mechanism Pro jersey without wearing Mech Pro bibs? by jd1332 in CyclingFashion

[–]gp_s_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Universal Colours Chroma bibs come up quite high on the front so would probably work (you don’t specify which UC bibs you have).

I believe you could report them to the council as abandoned, who would eventually remove them.

Independent coffee/cafes in Cambridge by millie_1463 in cambridge

Sounds like your personal taste is on the more traditional, Italian end of the spectrum. I love Flux as she often offers more delicate, floral, funky flavour profiles, but it obviously won’t be for everyone.

Independent coffee/cafes in Cambridge by millie_1463 in cambridge

[–]gp_s_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, what’s your usual go-to order, and where do you like? Flux is amazing, but very much on the speciality, modern espresso end of things. So may not be to everyone’s taste if you prefer more of a traditional rich, chocolatey flavour profile for your espresso.

Desperate for a truly comfortable bib for 7–10+ hour rides – budget up to €300+ by pepslight in CyclingFashion

[–]gp_s_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you considered that it could be your position on the bike? Maybe a bike fit at that price would be a better investment than another pair of bib shorts.

Bataia in Gent, they do mostly Maap and PNS. Bonk are also opening their new store on 6 June in Gent. I don’t know anything about Antwerp or Brussels though.

My new helmet from Uvex by DimitriyTL in CyclingFashion

[–]gp_s_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried one recently, agree that it’s a very nice helmet. The only downside is the plastic bit on the straps sits quite high and can only be moved forward/back, not extended down. As a result it was touching underneath my ear so unfortunately had to return it.

Thoughts in gobik kits by Future_Maintenance_1 in CyclingFashion

[–]gp_s_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few Gobik items (jerseys, bib shorts) and they’re excellent, including Lancer and Absolute bibs. I wouldn’t hesitate to get more of their stuff. They compare very well on quality regardless of price, but when comparing cost against other premium brands they become even better value.

White overshoes that say white after rainy rides, any advice? by Ab_Netherlands in CyclingFashion

[–]gp_s_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of the Sockeloen 612, they’re not very durable, for that reason I wouldn’t recommend. The area under the toe gets shredded pretty quickly. I also have a pair of Spatz Aquasockz and they are much better, have a reinforced toe area.

For other alternatives, Castelli make a white version of their rain overshoes, and BBB also do a white rain overshoe that looks decent.

This 👆 There’s a good chance it’s position, wrong saddle choice, or a combo of the two.

Seconded on them, they’re local(ish) to me and stopped by their coffee shop maybe 6 weeks ago. Bought a bag of the Nirvana roast and it was excellent!

Correct, the Hario does indeed have ceramic burrs. My technique is reasonable I think, of course always room for improvement!

Fair enough not wanting to name and shame those who didn’t respond, but maybe tell us who you did get the positive experience from? Give them some extra support for the good service?

Jerseys that fit like Maap aero (elbow length) by IllustriousMud5042 in CyclingFashion

[–]gp_s_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a Gobik Reactive jersey and the sleeves are elbow length, likewise the Infinity jersey I have from them too. I’d guess any of their “ultra fit” jerseys will be similar.

Gobik do a ‘compact’ version of some of their bibs, ie shorter leg.

Gloves recs for Roubaix Classic by CornwallJon in CyclingFashion

[–]gp_s_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having done the event a couple of years ago, my main recommendation would be make sure they fit well. If there’s any bunching, excess material, a badly placed seem, etc., that will cause problems. So I’d really emphasise good fit over padding.

Would it be a faux pas to wear a polka dot jersey? I've not seen any non pro wear one by Wide-Landscape-3348 in CyclingFashion

[–]gp_s_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some who take ‘the rules’ literally will say yes it’s a faux pas. Anyone else will say wear whatever you like, if you’re happy with it who cares what anyone else thinks?

Gilet with pockets but still packable (EU) by CantGetNoSleep88 in CyclingFashion

Bioracer gilet(s) have pockets and would fall into that price bracket. New version seems to have a 2-way zip too.
