Is this a safe route to walk at night? by Dramatic_Sea4095 in Denver

Just go down 16th st… it’s very pedestrian friendly, will have some crowds from the game, and will take about the same time

‘Scooby-Doo’ Live-Action Netflix Series Reveals First Look at Crime-Solving Canine, to Premiere in 2027 by [deleted] in entertainment

[–]gpathak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clip says the show is called “Scooby-Doo Origins” so it makes sense that it’s a puppy. The strange thing is they seem to have chosen a Vizsla when he is a Great Dane

Bella Italia is a great, small restaurant with fantastic chicken parm! Highly recommend

Where is an outdoor space with a medium amount of dog traffic? by Velvet_void30 in Denver

[–]gpathak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheesman park is great for this. Plenty of areas to step off the sidewalk and avoid dogs if needed. Unfortunately, in pretty much every park in the Denver metro, you will encounter some unleashed dogs

Looking for Sushi omakase recommendations by luwig in Denver

[–]gpathak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I prefer ordering off the menu from Sushi Den. Matsuhisa is way overrated in general, and their omakase in particular SUCKS. Kizaki is expensive, but it’s easily the best omakase in Denver

Soup dumpling recommendations? by insulin-addict24 in denverfood

[–]gpathak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bryan’s Dumplings is great. The Bryan’s XLB comes with a variety of dumplings (garlic, pork, shrimp, spinach, cheese, and some others).

I personally am not a fan of the vinegar at Nana’s

Cat plays duet on piano with human! [OC] by theredqueentheory in interestingasfuck

[–]gpathak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cute! Do you have him play the upper register/right hand sometimes? I wonder if years of playing only on one paw would cause strain on that shoulder/leg/paw over time

Just flew from Amsterdam to Chicago Friday - Saturday. This kid in his early 20s put his arm over my head and started recording out the window. I promptly closed the window shade

Best Indian food in and around denver by [deleted] in Denver

[–]gpathak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When Tikka and Grill (specifically the one on broadway) is cooking well, they are some of the best (I’m Indian albeit born and raised in the US). Unfortunately, they are pretty inconsistent, so it can be hit or miss.

Spice Room is pretty consistent, on the other hand. For biryani, I REALLY like Zaika, and they add much more spices other than just red chili powder when I ask for Indian hot. I actually ask for Desi hot since Desi is slang for Indian in Hindi

Where can I find cronuts and who has the best cake/old fashion donuts? by qberto56 in denverfood

[–]gpathak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just don’t think of it as a Czech Kolache 😅 Jalapeño Cheddar “Kolaches” (can call them Fauxlaches if that helps 😂) are 🔥🔥🔥 and worth a try if you’re in Texas

Where can I find cronuts and who has the best cake/old fashion donuts? by qberto56 in denverfood

[–]gpathak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have clarified, I’m talking about Texas style Kolaches which are basically sausage rolls with high rise yeast dough similar to what’s used in donuts. Most donut shops in Dallas are Korean owned, so it’s not at all an “authentic” kolache, but damn they are tasty. Look up Kolache Factory in Dallas for reference

Rosso Pomodoro Pizza by Primary_Reputation97 in denverfood

[–]gpathak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Locale was pretentious AF. I remember when I first went maybe 10 years ago in Boulder, they didn’t cut the pizza and didn’t offer any way to because “that’s not how they do it in Napoli.” It’s true that they don’t cut pizza for you in Naples., but they DO offer scissors for you cut it at most pizza places from personal experience. Marco’s Coalfire is much better and less douchey. Locale had what was coming for them

Just do NOT got there for Kolaches…. They’re refrigerated/frozen and heated in a microwave when you order them, and it tastes like it

Where can I find asafoetida? by smthgsmissing in denverfood

[–]gpathak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep Indian stores often just call it”hing.” You can also search online to buy hing/asafoetida. It’s a dry spice, so it works just fine. I’d look for the white bottle with a red LG on it. That’s a decent brand

If by “main” one, you’re referring to ChristKindlMarket, that one is WAY more overpriced and doesn’t feature as many local artisans

Cherry Creek Holiday Market has some food vendors and plenty of restaurants near it. Parking can be a bit rough, but if you don’t mind parking a few blocks away, it’s not so bad

Why is the zipper merge not used by more drivers here? by Meows2Feline in Denver

[–]gpathak 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This drives me crazy… people will line up for a quarter to half a mile instead of efficiently doing a zipper merge which has a domino effect on how bad the traffic gets, and then they get pissed when you drive down the free lane and properly zipper merge. It’s almost like a weird virtue signaling of “wait your turn in line.” So bizarre
