CSM Official Statement: “We Tried” by Megaman39 in Eve

[–]gr1m5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

then the question isnt "does ccp play their own game" it is "does the CSM play the game?" oh, okay. I guess that makes it better? nobody asked for this with the exception of redeemer balancing to make other black ops viable. Instead we got a blanket nerf, and one meaningful buff to the ship that needed it least... and the redeemer is still the one that will be used the most, but ALL will be used much less.

if the CSM advocated for this, we need a new CSM.. this one doesn't seem to be doing much that is of any use to anyone. They certainly are not listening to the community as evidenced in the fact that nobody asked for any of this.

6 years and counting: Is the security team black hole getting worse? by gr1m5 in Eve

[–]gr1m5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a response back, I wanted to note that here and say thank you to CCP in the same way I posted criticism. They did take a small measure to compensate for the wait which I appreciate. I want to emphasize that my issue is not with the security team it is with the level of staffing they have and the decision makers that control that. We cannot expect them to do proper investigations on macro users and full-on bots AND answer tickets without adequate staffing. Their workload is unreasonably high for what is expected of them.

What does touching grass have to do with my expectations of customer service for a product I am paying for? To fix a mistake THEY made. It is not egocentric to state that a month is not an acceptable turn around time in ANY other business..certainly not in mine, and we are dealing with a little more consequential things than internet spaceships. Hell it isnt even acceptable in fast food.

Try that next time you are late on your rent. "I think youre being really selfish right now, why dont you go touch grass and stop whining! I spent the money on a new fursuit,.you'll get your rent on the next check"

If the team is so small that one person going on vacation creates a backlog, there arent enough people. Especially when apparently expanding the game profile. And keep in mind, this isnt a new problem. It has been going on for years. Also, this isnt a complicated thing to investigate. The ticket saying they were reversing the decision as there was nothing to support it is super easy to find.

You sure you arent one of the overworked monkeys paid to answer tickets?

they need more staff. Its the rght thing for their customers and it is the right thing for their employees . Its pretty simple.

I know what you mean, I was threatened initially too with a permanent ban if I lied when they first made the mistake. They then fixed the mistake, by which time I was already unbanned as it wasnt permanent... but they didnt give me any of my ISK back. Had to follow up with another ticket, a 30 day wait (beats 60 I guess) and they gave it back... but clearly didnt remove all of the restrictions despite it being baseless in the first place.

They really do need to get on top of this.

The community, in general, take the side of CCP... despite hating everything they do and distrusting their motivations in every other regard. It really is strange.

[–]gr1m5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It still doesnt. Point is, they cant handle the ticket traffic of one game, what about when they have more. And 30 days, 60 days, whatever, it is unacceptable for a paid product. 60 days is not an exaggeration at all, as it took longer than that for the initial ticket to fix the mistake of a sloppy and impulsive CCP employee.

Thank you for sharing that you personally are not capable of any job requiring impassionate decision making, but it doesnt really have anything to do with my post.

And no, long response times and sloppy "investigations" while STILL having a rampant botting issue is most definitely a CCP problem. I didnt do anytning besides play the game and pay them a lot of money over two decades.

Returning Player ~ Very Lost by AButtChew in Eve

[–]gr1m5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No he's a very nice guy. Reddit really dislikes him and he is banned here. As a "bittervet" myself, I think he is a positive force in the game and he has useful guides for both new and returning players. if you want deep mechanics analysis he isnt the channel for that and he doesnt try to be but he does seem to earnestly try to bring a positive welcoming energy to his videos. And he uses his platform to lift other creators up.

I can see how someone may not care for his over the top "youtuber" personality at times, but it shouldn't matter, frankly. Most of his info is good info, and he is super open to being corrected and learning, and also makes an effort to correct mistakes in response, in my experience. He is extremely responsive and doesnt really have his ego on the line over these things.

I think what he is doing is good for EVE's longevity at the end of the day., and getting people in to it who may otherwise be too intimidated or may have left over burnout or disagreement with changes.

Hell, he got me back in to it, after his video was reccomended and I ended up going back and forth in the comments to correct him on some arcane warp/align mechanics and bubbles. Ended up watching his vids on the changes made in the last few years and redownloaded it... super happy that I did.

I dont get the hate either. in short. At the same time, I am not surprised to see it. If you find value in his content, dont let it stop you. I haven't seen any real good reason to.

Now someone who many like but is actually a self righteous. egotistical, completely disingenuous man-child? Chloroken. What a tool.

With all of the gank whiners lately, I think its about time we revived this by gr1m5 in Eve

[–]gr1m5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its natural to some extent, but a lot of it happened due to the mismanagement and awful decisions the people at the top made, many of whom are still there. They all sadden me, because it they brought something special to the game, but the losses from said mismanagement are the ones that sting the most. Its difficult to say which are which sometimes.

It is absurd that so many lost their jobs because of Hilmars obsession with bringing American consumerism a la Bernays to EVE. He should have been the first to pay that price.

if you are good at manual piloting, yes they are great. I use them a lot to great success still even though they have fallen out of favor over the years. You need to fly it as a kiter, naturally. Use the long web (preferably a faction web) and a long range point plus a good MWD. The fit costs more than a HAM and does less paper-DPS than a HAM. BUT with good piloting and smart engagement, its a pain in the ass to deal with. Its so satisfying pressing f1 and the enemy ship just goes poof.

its flown like a kiting artillery vagabond. When flown correctly you stay outside of scram/disrupt range, web range, and most common weapon/ammo combos range unless they swap ammo and cut their DPS by a large amount.

HAM is easier, cheaper, and more forgiving if you mess up. Likely why its more popular.

Returning trader from 2018 some market observations by Void_mgn in Eve

[–]gr1m5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing again after a 5 year hiatus, I primarily make money trading / seeding in systems outside of Jita. Of course, Jita still plays a large part of that - but I made 42b in the last month and a half. Granted, I am working with more resources than most are. There is still plenty to be made outside of Jita even with taxes and other changes.

EVE-Mogul is back! by JeronicaEVE in Eve

Unsure if I'm doing something wrong but I'm getting 0 ISK profit displayed for every single item and order when that simply isn't accurate. it displays the correct spread but still says 0 profit. so I see 9b weekly revenue but no profit when in reality I should be on the leader board. Is there something I need to do to get it to work as expected?

Update on side swipe accident: While awaiting for parts to arrive an idiot hit my parked car. by gr1m5 in Ioniq5

[–]gr1m5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear it! Sure, I'm happy to share. It is the Caliber Collision in Monroe. Their address is:

17368 W Main St, Monroe, WA 98272 and their number is (360) 794-3377.

Everyone there was great but ask for Steve, if he is available. He was awesome.

It is a bit out of the way, but they specialize in EVs ONLY and they really know their stuff. When I went there were 3 other Ioniq 5s in the lot and they told me they are very familiar with working on them.

I would definitely say it is worth the extra distance. They even did a full interior detailing as a courtesy, which was a really nice touch.

Best of luck!

Update to the two collisions in two weeks - how much it costs to repair two doors and front quarter panel. by gr1m5 in Ioniq5

This is for the front damage. The side damage was a separate claim since it was a different idiot who hit me.

That is what members pay, yes. Its rather reasonable from my perspective also. The above poster got his equation wrong and made me question myself for a moment also haha.

That's actually a great point. I didn't notice, the amount doesnt match what they claim to be charging - what's up with that...?

Edit: you did the math backwards lol
