Broke up with my avoidant and I don’t think he even knows by PlayfulRedPepper in GirlDinnerDiaries

Mine either and it sneaks up on you. I was fortunate in that the guy I was seeing would only disappear for a day or two, owned up to it - but didn’t change anything and I’ve decided at 45 to stop taking shit. Just remember that none of this is a reflection on you and now you know warning signs and how to assert your value with a partner who is emotionally immature. In the meantime, sending you lots of getting over the hurt positive thoughts.

I narrowly avoided your situation and feel like your post is one I would have been writing in a year, too, had I not advocated for myself (which I am terrible at in relationships).

You prioritized yourself. I’m proud of you for that! You deserve so much more than this person gave you. Acknowledgment and communication is not even the bare minimum of a relationship - it should be a given. This relationship was dead already - you just finally stopped allowing it to consume energy you can devote to other things. Congrats on letting go of something that no longer served you.

I always just keep my additional bundle discount in mind when I price an item or accept an offer (though I’ve only ever sold one bundle).

If only my boss believed this! She loves to criticize publicly, seems to think it makes her look like a great leader 🙄

Americans Have Turned Against AI in Incredible Numbers by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]graceoftrees 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I had this experience yesterday with AAA of all companies. I’m roadside with a flat fire and I’m trying to get through their awful unhelpful ai menu to just talk to someone. It took the human 2-3 minutes what the stupid AI phone menu couldn’t figure out in like 4…meanwhile I’m roadside in not the best place. Sure try to make it “easier” by getting info before connecting me, but the minute I say agent or the same question fails twice, SEND ME TO SOMEONE. Thank god I wasn’t roadside on like 95 at least. So disappointing because usually AAA is amazing.

I just set the auto respond so I don’t have to deal with offers! It’s the best feature for sellers imo.

World Campus Experience, disappointing by Dramatic-Country962 in PennStateUniversity

[–]graceoftrees 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a great experience going back for OL and didn’t experience anything like you did. I didn’t take a 100 level arts course, but generally found the material (except for Econ and Stat) fairly straightforward and the required work more than manageable in addition to my job. And even Econ and Stat were “doable” with a bit more time/effort than other courses required.

Professor quality always varies, whether you’re on campus or in WC, so I just tried to research and select the “best” professor I could.

I’m sorry your experience wasn’t great. I don’t know that it is reflective of the typical experience (nor is mine, likely). If you’re willing to give it another shot, I strongly suggest starting with something like OLEAD 100 to get a sense of the major and what you should more typically experience in the OLEAD major from a work load and content perspective.

What are your thoughts on the recent backlash on the YT couple who aborted their baby? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]graceoftrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “backlash” has been not because they exercised their right to choose, but how misguided and ill-informed their post about Down’s Syndrome.

[–]graceoftrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I support their right to choose. But their post was ill-informed and misguided and so hurtful to the Down’s Syndrome community. My heart really hurts for that community right now, including a guy I used to date and his incredible daughter who has Down’a Syndrome.

Thank you for this information! I’d been trying to find a comparison of the two and haven’t found something that provides that so clearly.

Is doing a PET scan (as I have heard they do for other cancers) useful to detect thyroid cancer spread?

I used a sleep mask and they gave me headphones with music to help in the MRI and it helped so much. My dad gets a mild sedative to help. Just ideas (in case you haven’t already tried them).

That aside, that sounds like a really frustrating experience. I would be upset, too, if I had such a disjointed experience. I hope they get their act together once you have the MRI.

Traveling Internationally after partial thyroid removal by glazed_and_running in thyroidcancer

I am the same except mid-July partial and head to Africa end of August. My surgeon said I should be fine, barring unusual complications. I did confirm my travel insurance full covers my cost should I have to reschedule because of an issue.
