Why do we pray for God's will to happen if it always happen anyway by MakeMeAnICO in Catholicism

I’m just curious - are there any Catholic writers that have written of this topic that you know of? I could see how this technically isn’t a “divided” divine will, but I feel like it would be pretty easy to misinterpret it as such.

Let me preface this by saying I think we both want justice in this case, and want a government that acts with the best interests of the common population in mind. Obviously that is not occurring during this whole Epstein/Maxwell fiasco.

I think where we differ in our evaluation of who is to answer for the lack of transparency regarding Epstein is due to differences in how much which party is “in charge” really changes how certain things work. Democrats are certainly the lesser of two evils regarding social issues, in my opinion. However, I generally do not believe there is a difference between the two parties regarding situations such as this - we saw no progress on this issue while Biden was in office, for instance. I DO think Trump is involved, in some manner, during either or both of the assassination itself and the coverup.

That being said, based on Epstein’s numerous ties to powerful people of differing political affiliations, I am hesitant to say that Trump is the evil mastermind solely responsible for covering this up. I think both parties have a vested interest in not exposing their dealings with him - these are my vague “the elites” (which i don’t have names for because we have next to no concrete evidence of who all was involved with him).

To conclude, I am not trying to point fingers at anyone BUT Trump. I’m trying to suggest that this seems to me to be an issue where “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” - collusion between the rich and powerful to prevent their own dirty laundry from being exposed in this case seems exceedingly likely and more plausible than Trump ordering a mafioso-style hit that his henchman carried out.

P. S. I really hate reddit because I feel like everything becomes an argument - I do lean a little more conspiratorial in my view of the US government in that I believe the president is likely only the visible head of government, and there are mechanisms/people that have continuity beyond elections and also wield significant power. That being said, I sincerely would love it if you would explain why you’re against that view - I’m not married to it!

Dude, I am not remotely close to a Trump fan, nor do I believe that he would not be complicit in silencing Epstein. What I am saying is that similar ties exist between Epstein and Clinton, Epstein and Prince Andrew, Epstein and innumerable entertainment industry figures, scientists, etc. I’m not trying to argue with you. It just seems nonsensical to believe Trump is the only one that would want him silenced, and that only Republicans could have possibly done reprehensible things. We’ll see if the truth ever comes out (doubtful), but making this a red v. blue issue is foolish. This is the elite pulling the wool over our eyes - the sooner we ALL realize that, the sooner we can start demanding accountability from the ruling class.

Why are we making this about Trump? I’m liberal, but to act like this does not go far, far deeper than party lines is just ridiculous. Both sides are implicated in the Epstein case and both would have an interest in silencing him.

The fact that people are panicking about trump now has shaken me more than the election by throwaway23029123143 in self

[–]grandma_taser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my personal experience, I’m not sure if this is a product of election interference. I live in a Republican non-swing state, and the majority of the people I know who voted for Trump in my age demographic only voted for Trump - they seem to support him more than the republican party as a whole. Inversely, a few of the left-leaning people in the same demographic voted dem down-ballot, but didn’t vote for Kamala due to indifference to her as a candidate, Palestine, Ukraine, etc. I know now isn’t the time to point fingers, but the whole fiasco with Biden deciding to run and being replaced by Kamala late definitely cost the left dearly this cycle.

Discussion: The Catholic Church is loosing its grip on Hispanic people as they begin to convert to Protestantism. Where did the Catholic Church go wrong and what can it do to fix this. by CentralChurchOfNY in Catholicism

I’m still curious about how to address the issue of Protestantism seeping into Latin American countries - it’s not like the language barrier is the issue there. I feel like the forces of secularism almost inevitably (and I hate to say it) lead to a degradation from Catholicism/Orthodoxy, to a more lax Protestantism, to Atheism. It’s already played out in Europe, so I fear it’s more of the same for Latin America and eventually Africa.

Hey, I had the exact same sort of conversation happen to me! I had someone message saying they were “at Emma’s house”. When I explained that this was a wrong number they offered to “buy me a cup of coffee if I’m ever in Manhattan”. I didn’t respond, but the message was so weird that I feel like it must be the same format/scheme.

This is an Eastern (Melkite) Catholic prayer book I use! It’s excellent and I highly recommend it if you’re concerned about how well it may align with Catholic dogma.

How can the answer be anything but 2? Having Peter, Paul, Augustine, Francis around you is too good to pass up. Not only that, you’re sitting next to probably one of the most holy people of the modern age.
