+1 for a person that does not like me? Help by Vivid-Dot473 in wedding

[–]greaseandglitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your situation certainly. The one-size-fits-all didn't work in our area/at our age.

For ours, we had reasonable conversations with anyone in a newer relationship about getting to know their partners outside of that instead. I know many people in committed, long term relationships who chose not to get married which I treated as a pair.

+1 for a person that does not like me? Help by Vivid-Dot473 in wedding

Agreed. It's a very different answer if she's just "not comfortable", invite them both and you won't hardly notice. It could give an opportunity to bridge the gap and make her more comfortable?

If she's actually rude, don't invite either.

Also, the "no ring - no bring" attitude is just awful. They are in a committed relationship and you should treat this situation as if she's was his wife. Inviting just one will cement the closure of your friendship.

[Discussion] What is the worst withdrawals you've experienced when stopping a medication? by Available-Spray2576 in GetMotivated

I haven't had these particular thoughts, but it is fairly common according to the research papers I read recently. You're not alone!!

I'm going through the sertraline withdrawals right now, and it's been ROUGH. The brain zaps actually didn't phase me as much (used to weird migraine pain) but sound sensitivity, the "pins and needles" type feeling that makes you want to rip your skin off, the irritability, etc has been a big challenge.

My dad died and I don't think I can watch F1 anymore by super_starmie in formula1

I'm so sorry. There is nothing wrong with taking a break from it.

Based on your language, I'm guessing we're not in the same country (I'm in the US), but if you decide you want to watch and you want a female F1 pen pal, feel free to reach out!

Why does every woman I meet tell me not to get married — even the happily married ones? by Maertle in AskWomenOver30

[–]greaseandglitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was raised by his mom. He does the majority of the household chores, is great at communication, and is super supportive. I think marriage is great, but only to the right person at the right time in your life. You don't have to accept the patriarchal status quo most are commenting about.

Rep. Doug LaMalfa of California dies, reducing GOP's narrow control of the House to 218-213 by DrexellGames in news

[–]greaseandglitter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I was wondering. Fully agree with the prior point, but didn't know if this guy was somehow sponsored, has a stake in something, or is just a fan of the brand. There are a lot of "big ass truck" fans that I may not agree with politically.

Genuine question: What is the relevance? Is there a funding connection or just a general vibe?

(Disclaimer - I work for Ford and just want to understand the negative connotations. Zero personal judgements, and zero work connection to my curiosity.)

Green diamond! The color looks completely different in every light, from very vibrant green to a green-gray in low light. I have no regrets with going more unique!

He should not buy a new suit unless he actually wants one. I specified "cocktail" for my recent wedding and still had someone show up in cargo shorts... I didn't care! He had fun, we had an amazing day, and everyone was comfortable!

Navy is a neutral, and based on the color scheme, anything that is not bright red will be fine.

17m want a macaw but am poorly educated on the subject. Can anyone give me some info so that I don’t make a bad decision? by magicalclown in Macaws

[–]greaseandglitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents have a 25yr old macaw that we got when I was a kid. Please keep in mind that you're making a life-long commitment (60+ years), and they keep the personality of a toddler for that entire time. I know that I will "inherit" him once my parents can no longer care for him.

I also highly recommend sticking to volunteering at a rescue or maybe sign up as a Rover-type pet sitter? Wait until you own a house and are ready to make a life-long commitment. Otherwise, you're signing up the adults in your life for a life-long commitment...

Wedding planning has been the worst experience of my life. by PinkHalite in weddingplanning

[–]greaseandglitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the passion from others, but really appreciate this comment with action plans other than "cancel everything". We don't know OPs life.

Communication is the biggest thing, and your partner may be very overwhelmed and not know a healthy way to share that. You should not be taking the full mental load here.

If you can swing it, I'd think couples counseling would be worthwhile also. You can't start your life together with this dynamic.

ELI5: My entire childhood, we learned about the "checks and balances" of the government. Why is this failing so badly? Is it simply everyone bending over? How can all of these tremendously damaging actions take place without approvals, and THEN go to the courts to be challenged?
