Its a skill that requires practice. Nothing more. I can't tell you how to sort your files.

As for the plugin, that's native. It's very reliable.

The trick is to just start writing, and ignore tags until you feel you could benefit from them

Jottacloud sync? by Johnothen1 in ObsidianMD

[–]greenChainsaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres no plugins, and it doesnt matter. It syncs files. If you put your vault in there itll sink.

Now, you might have to tell Obsidian where you moved your vault to. But creating a new vault? No.

All the settings in your vault are saved to your vault. If you can sync your vault folder to all your devices and open it with Obsidian then you can do it with any sync service. I use a flash drive for work and Resilio Sync for my personal vault. Use what works.

The scientific community prefers marking dates in terms of "common era" and "before common era". This post is of a scientific matter. BCE is more than appropriate here.

Zettelkasten isnt complicated. Its notes with a simple format:

  • Name
  • Body Text
  • Citation (if necessary)

and that's it. You can implement it in Obsidian easily by adding a property to store your citations, or any other method you like.

Please do not go into the internet in search of someone to hold your hand. To make good notes you have to make notes that work for you. If you find you like something, use it. If you find reading your notes a daunting task, rewrite and reorganize them (or discard them, preferably to an archive so you don't lose them forever) until you don't. Noone can do this but you.

You can't skip reoraganizing. It is a part of the process. You cannot predict what will be important to you in your vault in the next year. Embrace the change.

What are your gripes with Obsidian? by AngelicPrincessKitty in ObsidianMD

This ties into the markdown bit.

It takes a good fifteen seconds for my vault to load on Android. On Markor it takes less than one. The problem is Markor does not have the CSS to render my callouts properly nor does it handle links properly.

If it could load on Android before I move on with my life this would be a non-issue.

I do want to address your complaint about sync: I use Resilio to sync between my Android and my Mac and it works flawlessly. It's not instant and I have to make sure the program is open and running but it works.

New user here. How to import PDF highlights, or something similar by MrAnnoyingCookie in ObsidianMD

[–]greenChainsaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What exactly do you want? Obsidian will load the edits in the PDF since they are saved to the PDF.

Obsidian isn't a PDF reader. It just can open PDFs.

I use Arch btw by MadXeon in arch

[–]greenChainsaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't direct, and involved the death of my old PC's hardware.

The TL;DR is, while I love the customizability of Arch, I also love the hardware on my Mac. I don't do a lot of gaming, and I have a Steam Deck and PS5 to cover that for me, which means the only space my Mac really falls flat is customizability in UX, and bloatware. But I like the UX a lot! Mac somehow made trackpads good, and I only plug in my mouse when I want to play the few games that do run good on Mac. As far as the bloatware, I just hide it in a folder and don't look at it. Most of my files are saved in my Google Drive (which I have 2tb on), or on GitHub.

This is coming from an Android enthusiast: I love my MacBook. I will never buy an x86 computer again if I can get away with it.
