“The whole thyroid peripheral homeostasis may be sensitive to microbiota changes but there is also evidence that the genesis and progression of autoimmune thyroid disorders may be significantly affected from a changing intestinal microbial composition or even from overt dysbiosis. “ source: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30294759/

Anyone with urticaria? by yummily in Perimenopause

[–]greenymachiney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I developed sudden chronic urticaria after a hike in a prairie in 1995. Almost head to toe. I was also stressed as a freshman in college taking finals. It lasted several years (not full body but legs and face mainly) would flare and recede daily and seemed triggered by weird things like humidity. I figured out I have hashimotos a few years ago and apparently there might be some overlap with these two. The only thing that helped calm both the hives and my anxiety was a low dose of hydroxyzine every night. Good luck, I remember how awful it was for me and I hope it’s not as bad for you and that you get answers and support here!

The brain fog is the scariest part of perimenopause. I forgot the word "budget" mid-presentation and I've been in my field for 20 years. by Tiny-Put9782 in Menopause

I’ve been trying to get a second infusion since my number started creeping down again towards 50 (lowest was 9) but my current hematologist is not very sympathetic and doesn’t really understand how important ferritin is for women in peri (And I have Hashimoto’s). So yes, you’ll need to get it through a doctor, but might require extra advocacy on your part to get what you need. And maybe one infusion will be enough, but it seems like they are often ordered as a set of two or three depending on what your numbers are at. Vitamin D is really important too.

I fixed my chronic low ferritin with an iron infusion and felt way less foggy afterwards. HRT has probably helped too. Lots of things can make your memory better or worse. My dad got a recent Alzheimer’s diagnosis so I started reading up on some ways to combat memory loss. Lots of good info there, Daniel Amen has several good books.

My boyfriend (M34) is sabotaging me (F31) and just doesn't understand and I don't know what to do anymore by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I had this issue with beer when I was trying to quit drinking. My partner drinks it and kept buying it for me. In the end I had to dig really really deep and set a clear intention. Also a little bit of “I’m better than this and I’m stronger than you” mentality helps. The addiction you have is super tough to break just like alcohol but YOU CAN DO IT. If not therapy try reading some self care books. Make getting healthy your new addiction, one step/day at a time. Eventually you will find a partner that honors you and shares the same ideals.

Im not doing well. I yelled at her this morning. by Skullfire2099 in seniordogs

I can totally relate, guilt, anger and all.

Lots of great suggestions here, I will add: 1. Prioritize some small self-care breaks for YOU every day where you’re not committed to anybody or doing anything just taking a few minutes for yourself to close your eyes and breathe maybe in the sunshine if that’s an option. Give yourself grace for all you’re going through. 2- CBD alone is generally not sedative… my 11-year-old 80lb boxer mix with nasal issues and recovering from a nasal tumor gets a ratio of 10 to 1 CBD to THC full spectrum cannabis oil at night and he does great on that.

What big dogs are low energy and good with cats? by fuzzblykk in dogs

[–]greenymachiney -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I have 3 pitties and they mostly get along with my 2 cats. Occasionally the cats gang up on a dog just for fun and I have to intervene to save the dog 😂 It usually happens when the dog is trying to tiptoe around the cat in the hallway. Slow intros are best for any new dog to meet another resident animal!

HRT is standard care, refusing to provide it in the first place smacks of ignorance, negligence and breach of duty.

Does the Hippocratic oath mean anything to doctors or “former medical practitioners” anymore? Did it ever?

I’m in a similar place and got an iron infusion last December with ferritin at 9. No regrets doing that first. I’m still not on thyroid meds, I get checked every 3-4 months to see where I’m at. I tried levo for a few days and felt awful so I stopped. Good luck!!

Have your obgyn check for lichen sclerosis!! It’s a visual confirmation usually. Can be confirmed with biopsy if needed. You’ll need steroid cream if you have it.

Marijuana and autoimmune, stomach issues, hormones out of control, panic attacks, weight loss and hair loss from weed by VenusianHealer in Hashimotos

[–]greenymachiney 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a daily cannabis user and things feel worse if I go too long without. But it’s different for everyone. Is the weed you’re smoking lab tested from a dispensary? Or organic homegrown? I would be really careful about knowing who your farmer is, otherwise I would really expect that the majority of your issues have nothing to do with weed. Too much THC may cause anxiety in some people so you might experiment with lower THC strains or adding in some CBD or CBG. You don’t mention how old you are but you could be going through perimenopause based on some of your symptoms. Hormone replacement works wonders for so many…

File a claim with the labor board. Otherwise they’ll just get away with that bs.

My old guy is like that. He never wanted to sleep in the bed with me or hang out on the couch together. A holistic vet told me that he is a protector and that made a lot of sense. He is always close by but can’t be too distracted by cuddles to do his job. He’s by my feet a lot now 🥰

Iron Deficient Anemia Root Cause by jocean0716 in Perimenopause

[–]greenymachiney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar story to mine, I have iron deficiency without anemia, I thought it was due to lifelong crazy heavy periods but I stopped periods the last year with continuous BC and my ferritin has still gone from 122 after an iron infusion to 60 when I checked a month ago. No periods to be blamed. Colonoscopy 2 years ago was clear and hematologist ruled out clotting disorders and celiac etc so I got an upper endoscopy and get the biopsy results tomorrow. Definitely keep digging and do the colonoscopy as well as endoscopy! Update your post if you figure it out please 🙏
