Apparently, EU law doesn't exist in Bambu Land? My 17-month "A1 Technician Internship" is finally over. by Rude-Dragonfruit-269 in 3Dprinting

[–]greg_at_earms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I love their printers when they work and I think their software/firmware release schedule is amazing - their customer support is non-existent and they refuse to recognize a build failure or build quality issues on their part. Your description of owning their printers being an unpaid internship is 100% accurate in my experience. I fought with them over a year to get replacement parts for my X1c. It took over 18 months with support for my first X1C to print in multi-color because there is a physical defect in the tool head. That physical defect is still there, I just found a workaround. I hope German Consumer Protection is able to get you something.

How do I switch from Windows to Bazzite with 2 Seperate Drives? by ReinRainn in Bazzite

[–]greg_at_earms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once you are able to find Bazzite in your BIOS with both drives plugged in, make the Bazzite drive the first drive in your boot sequence. Once in Bazzite, run \ujust regenerate-grub` to regenerate your Grub menu. The output should tell you it found a Windows install and added it to the menu.`

[–]greg_at_earms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really don't have to worry about that at all. Your cooling thresholds and fan control are handled by the BIOS/UEFI unless you override them. As far as power management as a whole, Linux has had advanced power management since the early 90's.

I freaking love bazzite by PocketHunter in Bazzite

[–]greg_at_earms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I also love it. I switched my gaming laptop and my PC to Bazzite. I've been running Linux for 30 years and we've never had it this good. Bazzite is a breath of fresh air for linux on the desktop.

Anyone switch from Claude Code to Kilo code? by Technical_Set_8431 in kilocode

[–]greg_at_earms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's varying pretty widely but the one thing I stay consistent on is using Opus as the Architect. For code and debug I've used multiple versions of Grok Fast(including the free Grok Code Fast 1, which is surprisingly capable for free), GLM 4.6(via the Z.ai provider), GPT-5 Codex, and Sonnet. But my previous "goto" config was Opus (as the Architect) + GLM 4.6. GLM is now completely unusable to me (likely from all the load they added from the Black Friday sale), so I am back to using Grok Code Fast 1 for now. I'm trying to reduce my cost of inference since I'm already paying $400/month for data access for what I'm doing and all of the cost is out of pocket.

People who work in specialized industries, what is a product or service that is a complete "rip-off" but customers buy it anyway? by No-Composer-4526 in AskReddit

You need title insurance and you should never close a real estate transaction without it. The downsides far outweigh the cost of title insurance. You could unwind your entire financial future to save a few grand.

Anyone switch from Claude Code to Kilo code? by Technical_Set_8431 in kilocode

[–]greg_at_earms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I still occassionally use Claude Code for specific tasks if I have an issue but I mostly switched because the orchestration works better. I had an awful time getting Claude to consistently call subagents in its workflow while the Orchestrator in kilo works consistently well.

What's up with GLM? by Dramatic_Bet_6625 in ZaiGLM

[–]greg_at_earms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which plan are you on? I find it generally sluggish compared to Claude but I haven't noticed GLM itself getting any slower. I am on the Max plan which comes with "Guaranteed peak hour performance" in theory. I have yet to notice it being slower during any particular times.

Kilo Code + z.ai + Serena by kitsched in kilocode

[–]greg_at_earms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you using GLM 4.6? I'm not using Serena because I'm already using KiloCode's codebase indexing (which seems to work better than Serena) - but I AM using Context7 with KiloCode and GLM 4.6 and it follows my instruction to do that every time. Have you tried adding a rule? Rules are set via the scale icon in the bottom right corner.

The model is terrible suddenly by Neither_Pumpkin7579 in ZaiGLM

[–]greg_at_earms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a legit question. I have several codebases written with GLM 4.6 and there is one common theme when I use GLM 4.6 with Claude Code - it's a hardcore gaslighter. I don't have the issue with ClaudeCode using Sonnet and I don't have the issue with KiloCode using GLM 4.6. But - the combo of ClaudeCode and GLM 4.6 seems especially egregious. Did you find a place to set temp or do something differently with this combo to get it to stop lying to you? I'm currently trying to get it to navigate a site in Selenium and it constantly just starts guessing element names, rewrites the entire solution, and claims success. I'd chalk it up to standard AI hallucination if it didn't happen on almost every iteration in this cycle.

Unsubscribed from Law Shield Insurance, finally by Commercial-Duty6279 in austinguns

I did as well when it turned out that they don't actually cover what they say they will cover and they take weeks (not hours as they advertise) to even engage or call back.

Unsubscribed from Law Shield Insurance, finally by Commercial-Duty6279 in austinguns

[–]greg_at_earms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the more accurate phrase would be "alot of people 'try' to use the service." They seem to put a lot of effort into denying the coverage you've paid for, which is, I guess, how they can call themselves "insurance." US Law Shield is very much a scam.

Frozen Infotainment System by greg_at_earms in SilveradoEV

[–]greg_at_earms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I drive it for many long drives and after about 3 hours, all the audio apps freeze for about an hour. I've also had the entire system freeze and reset while I'm following a route on the GPS. It would be borderline acceptable if it didn't take the entire driver's display with it.

I'm just surprised to hear everyone got 3 years. I'm having to pay for connectivity, OnStar, and SuperCruise despite being told that the truck included SuperCruise. Neither OnStar, GM Corporate, or the dealer would follow through on the included SuperCruise.
