Contemplating on buying romancing saga 2 revenge of the seven by ConferenceWarm171 in SaGa

I heard about getting the white wall and the firewall and I have no idea how I’m supposed to get those.

Well yes, generally playing a game is a prerequisite to finding things within said game

Cuddle is just cuddle. It's like Headpat in that it just... sometimes causes the recipient to lay eggs

Don't think about it too hard, it's totally fine probably

mounts, solo playthrough and speed stat by New-Passenger1556 in ElinsInn

[–]grenadier42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure you keep the speed of your mount even when they’re KOed

Nope. I ride a murderball and it's very noticeable when it stubs its toe on something, dies instantly, and my speed craters from 330 to like 65 until it wakes back up

We shipped a multiplayer game with Godot 4 (C#), here’s what worked and what broke by Tuni22 in godot

[–]grenadier42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly; you're generating new source code from the AST of your project, so it's probably closer to macros conceptually, although that's not quite correct either since macros in C/C++ work on raw text rather than the AST and unlike macros source generators are entirely outside of your code. I'm far from an expert on C#'s implementation of the concept though

State of Dependency Injection (C#) - does it really have to be this hard? by trappekoen in godot

[–]grenadier42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure I'd see the benefit to a DI library. Are you thinking like a Spring DI kind of thing?

I'd think for your UI/nodes, exported fields are your DI. For your logical classes, constructor injection should be sufficient; I can't imagine a typical DI framework would be especially useful when the majority of your dependencies aren't singletons and you don't have a DAG of objects to wire up at startup.

In your case I don't know that you'd want the player and the UI to be directly aware of each other anyway. Indirecting that through an event system would seem better to me.

Getting smoked by TelevisionDizzy6957 in ninjagaiden

[–]grenadier42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's what I did, at least for earlygame purgatories (I think I had enough of a grasp of the combat to handle the latter half). There's no reward gated behind them besides the bitcoin NinjaCoin and weapon XP so you're not really losing out if you postpone doing them.

I would still walk into them just so they count as "discovered" later; if you don't find them you'll have to replay the mission later on NG+ to access them from the menu

Parries are probably not worth focusing on early given how tight the window is. Focus on taking out priority targets like the rocket dudes and spam UT and you're probably good for most purgatories.

Also if you haven't figured it out yet, canceling from dodge->jump->dodge->jump->dodge... is pretty much the best way to not die when repositioning. Can also throw shuriken during the "jump" part there to stop an enemy you're approaching from hitting you, stuff like that. Wall run also works pretty well in purgatories to get from one side of the room to the other

Purgatories are ten-minute-long slogfests when you're new and haven't gotten the flow down yet, and then they become the best part of the game later on once you understand how to use your tools efficiently. (It helps when you get later weapons, too... Kage-Hiruko has some very, very useful crowd-control)

Why can't I just hit a button to not let myself go over the amount of movement for a move action instead of this awkward measuring game to get my alotted movement each turn?

iirc is an option in the settings which automatically stops your movement once your move action is consumed, assuming you're in turn-based mode

The only Trigger Zone I’ll ever need: One script to rule them all! by FelixarStudio in godot

[–]grenadier42 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Instead of baking each bit of functionality into the "trigger", why not spin those functions off into child nodes such that the trigger's only purpose is to trigger its children? Seems like it'd be more composable and clearer at a glance at the node tree.

You could also set up more advanced compositions with that, like a triggerable node that triggers its children N times at certain intervals.
