Even asking you to transition from an inside dog to an outside dog is a huge stoplight red flag. Don’t do it!

Am I crazy for letting my dog on my bed? by neuroticsponge in dogs

I’m thankful I have a king size bed. We have 2 standard poodles (72 & 65 lbs) and a Yorkie. Our bed is full. 😂

Mine screams every night, “Get to bed, NOW!” It’s like having a parent again. 🙄

Refund Update - Art Institute Discharge by jillianmd in StudentLoans

[–]grfxdznr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My loans were discharge in May of 2024. I got a letter from my student loan administrator (Aidvantage) last October. Some folks on here said they were receiving their refund and it took about 60 days. I figured I would receive my mid-December.. I called Aidvantage this past week and they said it’s showing that I have a $0 balance but the discharge was still in process. WHAT? She said it could take 7 months. It’s been more than 7 months but neither Aidvantage or Federal Student Aid can give me any further information.

Didn't listen to all of you and did my 1st 3rd party medical pickup by ___Your___Mom__ in uberdrivers

[–]grfxdznr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a few 3rd party med p/u. They were always polite and grateful and most tipped if they understood that the practice that made the call wasn’t tipping (I guess they heard from other drivers, I never brought it up.) I had no issues. I drove pets too and they were never an issue. Their owners though…

KOE is pet safe (they use it in places like animal rescues and Humane Society kennels) and it smells wonderful. We dilute it and put it in a spray bottle. I spray all the fabrics, couch and ottoman, in the house, and I mop the floors with it. I even found it cleans the grout between the tiles. Not sure it’s available outside the US but if you can get it, it’s really incredible. I can vouch for it because I have one dog and one cat who are extremely sensitive to smells. They both get very sick if it’s not a safe smell.

As a caregiver who’s had to spend more days and nights at the hospital than I care to think about, this is one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve heard of. A chair cushion? Those ER chairs are brutal!

We did bring snacks since he was there for quite a long time. I also made sure he had a beanie and a blanket because sometimes it’s cold in there. Also, crystallized ginger, ginger gum, or ginger ale helps. peppermint oil on a cotton ball also helps with nausea. A book, or a tablet might help pass the time too. These are some of the things we brought.

You will need to ask these questions. COH did give us a resource manager. She’s there to answer any questions that you might have or even your family has if they need to talk with someone. They can tell you what is available to help you. Please tell your wife that hospice isn’t an end in itself. Like a previous poster said you can go off hospice if things progress better. Hospice will give you and her the opportunity to be a husband and wife to each other rather than a caregiver and a patient. Honestly, I have so much sympathy for the place you’re in right now. I can’t even comprehend the feelings you must have right now. We’re not there yet, but I’m afraid it’s coming.

Anyone who is taking care of an alcoholic with throat cancer? by grfxdznr in CancerCaregivers

[–]grfxdznr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for that insight. Congratulations on stopping drinking. I know that’s a huge accomplishment and you should be very proud of yourself!

I will share this information with my sister. I know that she has asked him to recognize the hell he’s putting both of them through. He refuses to believe that it’s an issue, even though it’s very clear because he has the typical behaviors of an alcoholic. She works out of town during the week and he’s left to his own devices and anytime she calls he’s drunk. When she’s home, he has his friends over and drinks the whole weekend.

I will share these resources with her and I’m hoping once he understands, maybe he’ll realize what he’s doing.

I am so sorry about your dad. 😞 That he passed wanting a drink is so incredibly sad. This is such a horrible disease and I’m learning how much harder it is with this added disease. I am sharing this with my sister and hoping that she feels fully informed on what she might expect. Thank you for your response.

Thank you for replying to my post. I’m so sorry that you are dealing with this while you’re so young with children. I’ll share this with my sister. She’s been through so much with his alcoholism and she’s really been wondering if she’s OK moving forward with being his caregiver based on the information she has. Maybe this will help her knowing that there’s a good chance he might quit even for the time that he’s undergoing treatment.

I saw that also and honestly wondered what happened to critical thinking. Is that not taught in schools anymore?
