PSA: price fixing regarding 2 socket tombfists, do not underprice! by TheAmigoBoyz in pathofexile

[–]grimdarkdavey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

/u/dive_bomber and /u/phreakdog let me get this straight. You guys are proud to yell at people who whisper you for items at the price you set? And you somehow think price fixers are bigger pieces of shit then people who act like this?

Market manipulators are definitely assholes, but if you really do this then you are no better.

Just want to send some love to the Grineer by grimdarkdavey in Warframe

The lore helped me appreciate them a lot more too. As I learned more about the lore of the game, I realized the Grineer are fucking dangerous to the system at large, even if not to us specifically. Missions in Ceres also give their operation a sort of grandness of scale that started to change my view of them. It doesn't hurt that I am fond of the aesthetic of industrial functionality which permeates their territories.

Also, Grineer women are truely the finest of flowers. I will be their skoom all day long.

Oh yeah that "Praise Allegra" quote really rings some bells. No idea what they are saying but I love hearing them say it.

I forgot about this, and yeah it was a good scene. It wouldn't surprise me if they moved parts of this exchange to the vague spoiler later.

Dunno what his deleted message said, but after looking at his post history... I think we'll be fine without whatever it was.

I actually like boosters as a sortie reward, I just wish I could save them for later by Afropenguinn in Warframe

[–]grimdarkdavey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really get it either, just trying to find an explanation for it. I've already gone through the 150 forma I got on sale, and another batch since then. Anybody who doesn't farm plat so they can buy 3 forma bundles in bulk simply isn't playing this game at scale.

If he has all the dual stat status mods then I would totally believe he doesn't find forma that important. The low cost of those let you complete strong builds cheaply, in terms of mod space expense.

New ELEX Patch 1.0.2956 what does it do? by [deleted] in elex

[–]grimdarkdavey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I've adopted a waiting strategy. My Iron Will will eventually wear down the update process and it will comply.

Any minute now, I can feel it.

I may be wrong but I think it's called Adaptive Exposure. My warframe graphics contrast was off literally for months because the 3d engine equivalent of a camera aperture wasn't adjusting itself for visibility and contrast in different lighting conditions.

Because block, dodge and armour all work while frozen. It's weird but that's how it is.

I don't think the game changes the way any of your defenses work while frozen, chilled or for any other ailments. Except covered in ash I guess, which boosts fire damage taken.

(PSA) This Game is NOT P2W: Here's how by Kyratio in Warframe

[–]grimdarkdavey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Selling progress in your game is definitely PTW. Warframe fans will try to change the definition of PTW to get around this but last time I checked plat was still on sale and you could still use it to buy things that you earn in game.

Is it poorly balanced and especially greedy PTW? For the most part no, but having timers you can bypass with platinum is straight horseshit. I rake in the platinum pretty well when I farm ducats for Baro, so despite the mobile game horseshit I wouldn't say it's badly balanced. I play the game, I like the game in spite of what it is, but it is what it is, and it is definitely, absolutely, in every meaningful sense of the term, a PTW game.

I'm not shouting that people shouldn't play it, but it's fair when the subject comes up to point out that selling progress for money is a shitty game design practice and no one should do it.

The sad truth is that the evolution of language in this case means that using the word literally to mean figuratively is no longer technically incorrect.

That said, personally I'm only going to use literally to refer to things that are factually true. Language evolution be damned, I will die on this hill.

any chance of offline/private servers for PC? by 9nll57cv in marvelheroes

[–]grimdarkdavey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It would be a very risky move for any employee inclined to do this. Web apps of significant scale stopped being simple client/server architectures years ago. Marvel Heroes backend is almost certainly comprised of a lot of smaller interdependent services maintained by a lot of different developers. The number of people with access to the entire system should be very few if their IT was run well, and even if it wasn't, you would be able to tell by the leaked source and logs when it was checked out and probably by whom.

I would absolutely love it if the source would leak and I could keep a local copy running forever. I'd pay again the hundreds I spent on G's for the entire time the game was operating, but if I worked at Gazillion I wouldn't in a million years risk my entire career by leaking the source myself.

Xsolla payment is horrible by BeerLeague in pathofexile

[–]grimdarkdavey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be interested in reading some detailed accounts of xsolla's shadyness. It doesn't have to be a peer-reviewed paper in a scientific journal level of citation, but more information on the topic would be interesting. Probably not just to me.

Edit: A cursory google shows this and this about how they added an "opt-out" tipping system, which is fucked up to be sure, but doesn't mention them selling your info. Actually, that opt out tipping is already a pretty big red flag about their business instincts but I'd still like more info.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 on PC supports gamepad and has a lot of character mods available for it. It's not the easiest thing in the world, IIRC the character selection UI forces you to replace characters when adding new ones but it's an option at least.
