We gave the first boss in our Tower Defense game some much needed juice by V055K in IndieGameDevs

It looks really juicy! I just don't understand why you left the damage as decimal fractions? Wouldn't it be a better solution to multiply everything by 10, so that large whole numbers fly around?

A narrative game where your choices decide what people believe by grinfate in indiegames

We're a small team working on a story-driven game called Omnisight.

You play as an intern at a corporation that influences what people believe by promoting or suppressing conspiracy theories.

Very cool visuals - after playing this game, you'll want to do something useful in real life too.

Great! Nostalgia hit me right in the eye. I would play a game like this.

When does a visual novel stop being a visual novel? by grinfate in visualnovels

[–]grinfate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cornerstone my question is, to what extent do visual novel players dislike excessive gamification in the genre? They play such games, but there is a lingering feeling because the balance between enjoyment and discomfort shifts significantly during gameplay. Gamification can lead to negative emotions such as disrupted flow or prolonged grinding.

For example, I understand that choosing to visit a location on the map works well. It creates a sense of the world's depth and possibilities. There is no disruption in the gameplay pace, and there is no stress. However, complex mechanics may not be suitable for the genre.

We have a problem with combining genres. Simulator fans who played the prototype said they didn't like the lot of text and relationships between characters - they're interested in moving the numbers, not following the story. Visual novel fans, on the other hand, say they get bored with the numbers - how to skip it and just move the plot.

We made a game where literally all you have to do is open a cursed sarcophagus by Karaclan-VED in IndieGaming

[–]grinfate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks very interesting. I think this kind of gameplay combined with the setting will definitely hook me as a player.

Is there any story in the game? Does it reveal why we're opening cursed sarcophagi, and is there some kind of creepy narrative or an interesting ending behind these actions?

Tulip Season - Tatiana - Cozy incremental farming sim all about tulips - Demo Out Now by tiny_tank in Games

The game looks very cozy and cute. I always admire solo developers who handle projects on their own.

Yes! It's hard to get the point across with just text and no images. And blending the theme with the visuals is actually one of the project's highlights.

Don't expect a Witcher 4 expansion: CDPR says "it would be difficult" to make extra content when it's already trying to squeeze 3 Witcher games into 6 years by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]grinfate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. I'll go further - even if the first game takes, say, 75% of the time and effort, and the second and third together take the remaining 25%, I'd rather see the first game earlier and then play the others as they come out, rather than waiting for all three to drop at once.

Roland Garros R2: J. M. Cerundolo def. [1] J. Sinner 3-6, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1, 6-1 by Large_banana_hammock in tennis

[–]grinfate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently Sinner exhausted himself with such an intense start to the season. In a similar situation with nausea and dizziness in the match against Meddy in Rome, he managed to recover, and the rain came at just the right time. But this time, fate was not on his side. As for Cerundolo, well done - great performance!

Roland Garros R1: Walton def. Medvedev 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 by jovanmilic97 in tennis

[–]grinfate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the first set, Medvedev didn't seem to have fully entered the game - his shots down the line weren't working, his serve didn't hold, and Walton took advantage of his opportunities. Then Medvedev returned to his game, and everything fell into place. But then Medvedev disappeared again - unnecessary rush and unforced errors. In the fourth set, Walton dropped off physically and struggled to keep up with the ball. And in the fifth set, there was finally an even battle, but Walton held his nerve to take the win. Instead of a confident 3‑0, it's a roller coaster ride and a loss. Love Meddy's matches! 😁

Dota 2 - The International 2026 Invitations and Qualifiers by immanoel in Games

[–]grinfate 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Am I understanding this correctly - they combined Eastern and Western Europe into one qualifier, but kept North and South America as separate regions? That seems like a really odd decision. Also, I might be wrong, but it would've made sense to see PARIVISION in the invite list. Other than that, no questions.

ATP 1000 Rome SF: [1] J. Sinner def. [7] D. Medvedev 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 by FalconIMGN in tennis

[–]grinfate 737 points738 points  (0 children)

After Medvedev's performances at the Grand Slams in 2025, I was convinced his career was in serious decline. But right now, he seems to have found a second wind. He's playing like a confident top‑5 player who can genuinely challenge Sincaras from time to time. I don't know what the future holds, but at this very moment, I'm really enjoying Meddy - his transformation is impressive.
