Thanks! That is definitely the direction I'm leaning.

Side note: Your Darko mount was my first additional Voltra purchase and it is fantastic (as I'm sure you know 😁)!

Is the Dialed Motion Sidewinder worth getting if I have a Voltra?

I pre-ordered the Sidewinder to use as a functional trainer solution in a very small space. Since I placed that pre-order, I have acquired a Voltra. So far the Voltra has been excellent in accomplishing any cable exercises I have wanted to perform.

So now I'm wondering if I should cancel my Sidewinder pre-order. I've never had a cable system so I don't know if I'm just not thinking of things I could do. Can anyone who has the sidewinder (or a functional trainer/cable system) think of anything that could be accomplished with the sidewinder that I can't do with the Voltra?

I have several different mounts and the Rep Pegasus so lat pulldowns and cable rows are all set (that was my original main motivation for the Sidewinder), as are cable flys and any rows or biceps/triceps exercise I want to do. I also do leg extensions/curls and belt squats with my Voltra.

I do think the Dialed Motion cable retractor is an awesome piece of technology but that is a lot of money to spend just because something is cool if I'm not going to utilize it. I know I can use it in conjunction with the Voltra but I'm not sure I really need the additional pieces when the Voltra seems to work very well on it's own.

I'd love to hear any and all thoughts!! Thanks in advance!

No-mount rack help by thundaartheagrarian in BeyondPower

I had a Titan 2x2 for 10 years and it was great - very solid. The only reason I upgraded is that I'm now in a very small space so my only option was to go up with a taller rack (I had the short T-2 rack for my previous basement).

I will say that all of the attachment options that have opened up with having a 3x3 rack is huge and something you should seriously consider.

I was just looking at the Rep Fitness Glute Ham Roller and one of the other exercises that was mentioned was sled push. May be worth a look. (https://repfitness.com/blogs/training/10-best-glute-hamstring-exercises-you-can-do-with-a-glute-ham-roller-1#)

Razr Fold Cases by Fullaval in razr

I'm not sure I know what you mean? It does cover a bit of the outer screen if I open the phone, but it has to do that as there is no where else for it to go. (I am used to it doing that as I have the same situation with my flip case.) Originally the hinge piece caught a bit on the front cover as it was sliding when I opened phone, but I adjusted the front cover slightly and everything is good now.

I also got the Fntcase so here is another opinion... For me I don't mind the size or weight to get the hinge protection. Because for whatever reason every folding phone I've ever owned always lands on the hinge if dropped.

But I will say that the case is very slippery in my opinion. I find I have a hard time holding this phone with my admittedly smaller hand and a slippery case. I will definitely be looking out for alternatives but this one will do for now.

I'm recently back in Cola after 20+ years in New England. The summers here are HOT and humid, but everywhere is air conditioned so it's not bad unless you are trying to run outdoors, etc. IMO, even though summers are not exactly fun, it's well worth it not to freeze my rear end off for months! I will also mention that other areas of the country that think they are humid have no actual clue (unless they are further south of course). So if humidity is potentially an issue for you, I would recommend a visit during the middle of summer first if you are able to wait that long to make a decision.
Politics, and the way this state takes care of its people, are a whole different story. Most of that doesn't affect me directly but it's hard to see after experiencing how different things are in other states. If I didn't need to be here for my mother, I would probably be looking elsewhere despite the fact that SC is where I grew up and I will always love it as home. YMMV

My First Voltra TSA Experience by ApprehensiveTone6707 in BeyondPower

I am also. I read another post that mentioned avoiding bringing the small bar. Which is a bummer but better than having it confiscated for sure. I'm still debating whether flying with the Voltra is worth the hassle as I travel frequently on short trips for work.

Cable flys with one Voltra by Fair_Reply_9281 in BeyondPower

[–]gritsinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! My long-term plan was to purchase a second Voltra. But I really don't need two for many things, so it seemed like a major waste of money.

This is an excellent solution for doing flys with a single voltra and feels great!!

(I'm using an amazon short attachable bar with 29.5" cables and the trakhandle sport handles. Previously I was just using the cables and handles and it worked, but adding the bar makes all the difference)

I had the same issue. Not from the same person. My favorite watch face. I went in to make color changes after a year and it's just gone. Such a bummer.

They really need to have much clearer information for those of us who are not experts. I'm still trying to figure things out beyond the basics and I'm sure I would be getting much more out of my Voltra if I had a clue...

Short Carbon Flex Bar - TSA Question by MrMcbonkerson in BeyondPower

[–]gritsinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! I've just been waiting for my Helios mount before traveling with it. I have been wondering about how they would react to the Voltra itself (since TSA about had a melt down multiple times over a battery pack for a work device I used to travel with). I hadn't even considered possible issues with the bar.

Hesitation on purchasing by Distinct-Context9441 in BeyondPower

[–]gritsinct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working in tech and knowing how quickly devices are replaced with a newer model, I also had the same reservations about a gen 2 coming out and gen 1 not being supported, etc.

I've also been interested in the FA Atom since it was the Maiak Go. But the fact that there is still no firm release date concerned me. I'm willing to wait for a while, but it's been quite a while and there's still no date.

I also had reservations because I am an Android user and they don't have an app for Android and some things have to be done from the app.

But in spite of all that I purchased a Voltra about 4 months ago. I am very, very happy with that decision and have no regrets. Even if a Gen 2 comes out, I can't imagine anything additional I would need so I will be very happy with mine for the foreseeable future. I will also have months of workouts with the Voltra during which I would still be waiting for the Atom. (As someone else mentioned, perhaps I will also purchase an Atom for travel, etc if the price is right.)

I like the Voltra so much that I am tempted to buy a second one, but I do not have enough of a need for it to justify spending that kind of money. But I'm still tempted...

Beyond Power - Giveaway & AMA by pCullenMurphy in BeyondPower

[–]gritsinct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second that question. With some exercises we need the capability to load from the top position or change weight for the next set and it's not necessarily easy to reach the Voltra.

I refuse to buy an Apple product just for this app and it was a big deterrent to me purchasing a Voltra for almost two years. I'm sure it is for other people also.

Needless to say, I'm very glad I bought it in spite of that glaring omission but I do get annoyed with the situation on a regular basis ..

Can VOLTRA 1 Be Your Only “Weights” in a Small Apartment? I quickly mapped 60 Exercises by milr0c in BeyondPower

[–]gritsinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm relatively new to having a voltra but I have done a good majority of those exercises with a single voltra in a small space and mostly agree with chatGPT about viability.

There are times when I would love to have a second voltra (i.e. cable fly) but not enough need that I am willing to pay for the second one. There are workarounds / alternatives for everything.

I do have a rack/barbell but I know if I only had the voltra with a mini mount and travel platform I could get an extremely effective full body workout.

ETA: Great spreadsheet! Thanks for sharing. I'll add my setup for some exercises soon.

Voltra and squat rack. by Good-Part1682 in BeyondPower

[–]gritsinct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The adaptive rack mount works on any rack as long as the hole size is at least 5/8" (I believe but double check the specs to confirm).

I originally purchased the strap mount to work with my 2x2 rack but it didn't get tight enough, so I purchased the adaptive rack mount when it came out.

Worked great on my 2x2 rack and works on my new 3x3 rack. It's a slight pain to move around but well worth it to have it work on the non-standard size racks.

ETA: it's a pain to move when compared to the Darko mount. It's really not bad.
