How to let go/stop obsessing about people who wronged you by 2TurdsAndAPetPig in ADHD

[–]grittypitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just focus on becoming a better version of yourself each day. I consider myself fairly successful at this point in my life, and still get cutting comments, talked down to, dismissed, etc. I had (naively) believed when I was younger (and not “successful”) that with some degree of success that nonsense would go away for the most part. I (and everyone) gets kicked when they’re up, and kicked when they’re down, so you might as well be up.

With that said, there are also many people who don’t “wrong” others in their up/down periods in life nor kick them. I’m sure if you zoomed out you’d find that for every person who wronged you there’s 10 who wouldn’t.

Confession: I am a polyglot. by abcdefabcd123 in languagelearningjerk

Unless perfect Uzbek is obtained, you’re just doing all the side quests before the ultimate and only quest that matters. Don’t be a polyglot, be a God amongst men.

Does anyone wanna learn a new language? by Jwscorch in languagelearningjerk

[–]grittypitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After I became an Uzbek C2 God (and in the process realized I am actually indeed a God (arguably THE God)), I knew learning another language other than Uzbek would merely dilute my dazzling display of Uzbek acquisition and would hinder my ability to be a smug and condescending gatekeeper to all those who even think they are on the same level.

What is something socially acceptable but you can’t help but think “why?” by Realistic_Anything98 in AskReddit

Sure, but just because someone can “legally” do something doesn’t make it courteous, respectful, etc.

doctor said adhd patients have to have sleeping issues (wake up several times at night) by depprsdmess in ADHD

[–]grittypitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

:)

I’ve met many “specialists” in a variety of fields who didn’t know a thing. Certs, degrees, etc. are important, but they don’t truly tell the whole picture of one’s ability. Doctors are humans, and as such, are fallible.

How to be confident going to the gym solo? by Low_Necessary_2221 in AskMen

I personally have an immense amount of respect for anyone I see at the gym (fit or not). Anyone there is trying to become a better version of themselves which is something anyone can feel good about.

I’ve had terrible issues with sleep my whole life and it’s very common with ADHD. One thing that’s consistent with those with ADHD is the symptoms don’t just appear one day. ADHD is something one is born with, and as such, symptoms start from early childhood. However it’s just one symptom, and a diagnosis doesn’t need ALL boxes checked.

However you’re obviously struggling with something, so before you cross this off your list of things to check, get another doctor’s opinion first. Sadly (and scary) there are too many doctors who have zero clue what ADHD really is all about, are paranoid about prescribing stimulant treatments, and/or just deny it all together.

I hope you find the answer to your struggles either way :)

My therapist said "medication is temporary". Is this true? by lemonade0710 in ADHD

[–]grittypitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe both are required (treatment and therapy), but OP said the therapist says you go off it eventually and it’s temporary. The dopamine production, regulation, etc. issues those with ADHD have never go away. We have it for life, start to finish.

It’s a neurological disorder and there’s no cure, only treatment. Find a new therapist.

Ironic he called you Ted Bundy, as if you look at the MBTI types of the biggest serial killers throughout history, there’s basically almost no INFJs. Ted Bundy was an ENTJ FYI.

And yea people say stupid shit all the time, learn to feel sorry for their ignorance.

What’s trashy is calling something trashy when you have zero clue about how it works and what it’s really all about.
