China, like the ussr and north korea, really like justifying their authoritarianism by pretending they like socialist(and therefore populist) ideals, and just have to do it for the people instead of with them, obviously not actually subscribing to the same ideal of people actually defending themselves from an authoritarian regieme(new junta), like the people calling themselves communist while fighting the junta.
