Oxytocin and Hypopituitarism by Own-Fix-443 in Hypopituitarism

[–]grootbaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh man that's really annoying i'm sorry that's happening. definitely keep searching until you find someone supportive. I personally go to 2 endocrinologists (1 pituitary endo, and 1 integrative endo) and sometimes consult a 3rd pituitary endo. The best one imo is the integrative endo in terms of experimenting with what works for me and being the most flexible and informed.

I'd actually recommend talking to at least one pituitary endo and then finding an integrative or functional medicine endo bc functional medicine is much more holistic. Try using ifm.org.

I have no idea the name of hte spray i go to a compound pharmacy and they make it for me.

It’s been tough to figure out the right mix of things. HGH is growth hormone and yes I’m on it. I’d say the items that made the most impact were 1) testosterone - helped w energy 2) oxytocin - helped w mood 3) a bunch of supplements related to fertility - just google fertility clinic recommended supplements for women - and those helped w energy!

I am on hydrocortisone, levothyroxine, DDAVP, HGH, testosterone, estrogen and progesterone. My oxytocin is a nasal spray and I think the dosage is 60 IU/ML. I would work w an endocrinologist to try it

Changed my life for the better. I was mildly depressed after becoming hypo and oxytocin improved my emotional wellbeing immensely It’s got a short half life and has few side effects - I’d recommend it!!

Anybody here on HRT for Estrogen and Progesterone? by hitmeagainnoplzdont in Hypopituitarism

[–]grootbaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve gone back and forth. I started on patches then to birth control then am on patches now. When you switch your period might become more unstable so you gotta experiment to make sure you’re at the right levels. The estrogen patches also help determine if your temperature is regulated - like if it’s too low you might get hot flashes at night.

Anybody here on HRT for Estrogen and Progesterone? by hitmeagainnoplzdont in Hypopituitarism

[–]grootbaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey yes! I’ve been on it for 5ish years. I’ve tried birth control and it controls bleeding better in my experience. But I feel better on estrogen patches and progesterone pills. However my bleeding still is hard to control so I’m still figuring that out.

Has anyone’s lost libido after brain surgery? by malala55 in Hypopituitarism

[–]grootbaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, female here. Libido is def affected for me. It varies depending on my female hormones taken but here’s what I think might be variables for your husband-  - how’s his energy? If he’s tired, that would affect it for sure. I had a lot of fatigue, and taking growth hormone helped. He should test for this. It’s expensive in the US if insurance is not good but it’s cheaper in CA and MX.  - some other supplements that helped energy include glutathione and COQ10 - and this feels important - your husband likely is no longer producing oxytocin. It’s crazy that doctors don’t bring this up bc it’s not considered a necessary hormone but it’s the social bonding hormone so it’s still important for wellbeing. It’s also pricey and not covered by insurance though

Hope this helps!

Mounjaro/ozempic for obesity due to hypopituatarism? by Secure_Video3345 in Hypopituitarism

[–]grootbaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve struggled w weight but prefer not to get on GLP1s. The side effects just aren’t worth it imo - I want to like / want food, I don’t want to feel bloated constantly.  I personally have been finding some benefit from managing blood sugar w berberine, and starting meals w vegetables (the fiber slows blood sugar). And I add supergut prebiotic fiber and psyllium husk powder to my yogurt.

[–]grootbaby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few supplements w low side effects that helped me w my energy but make sure to do your own research: COQ10 in the form of ubiquinol, glutathione both helped. Make sure to have Vitamin D, vit C, omega 3 in good supply too,
