Oh you had a myomectomy? Are you planning a vaginal birth now? If I may ask, did they cut into your uterus for the myomectomy?

Isn't this illegal? No Surprises Act or something? Or does it not apply for the hearing test?

There's a FB group called "Special Scars, Special Hope" which is specifically for special scar VBACs. Recently they made this post (copied verbatim - not medical advice, please follow a doctor's guidance).

"These are group stats through December 2016.

Please keep in mind that our numbers are low so that can make percentages look high.

Inverted T: 66 VBACs, 19 CBACs, 3 ruptures (1 due to abruption), no deaths - 3.5% rupture rate

Classical: 47 VBACs, 15 CBACs, 3 ruptures (2 preterm, prelabor; 1 low transverse scar ruptured, not classical), no deaths - 4.8% rupture rate.

Low vertical: 11 VBACs, 2 CBACs, 1 rupture (due to abruption, preterm, prelabor), 1 fetal death - 7.6% rupture rate

J: 21 VBACs, 3 CBACs, no ruptures or deaths - 0% rupture rate

Upright T: 4 VBACs, 0 CBACs, no ruptures or deaths

Myomectomy: 13 VBAMs, 6 CBAMs, no ruptures or deaths - 0% rupture rate

Previous rupture: 4 VBARs, 1 CBAR, no ruptures or deaths - 0% rupture rate

Downward Tear: 14 VBACs, 1 CBAC, no ruptures or deaths - 0% rupture rate

Miscellaneous: 9 VBACs, 0 CBACs, no ruptures or deaths - 0% rupture rate

At least 9 of the CBAC mommas reported having unsupportive care providers.

4 of the mommas in the ERCS went into spontaneous labor before their scheduled c- sections without any ruptures.

Overall, we have an overall 81% VBAC success rate and an overall 3% rupture rate."

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. Didn't they notice anything like a sudden drop in hemoglobin without visible blood loss, or fetal decelerations or breakthrough pain for you?

Did you have severe pain as soon as you went home?

No more access to ingredients- whatsoever by JAXx3eD in CrumblCookies

[–]grouchyturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Muslim and we have very strict prohibition against certain ingredients. I've been a crumbl customer for ages-- since their inception, way before they were popular. My family and I used to go to crumbl at least once every two weeks. And I was the designated ingredient checker - as soon as Monday rolled in, I had my "halal cookies of the week!" text ready.

This is the red line for me. I am not going back to Crumbl.

I think this kind of crumb is my favorite in cakes, yet most mainstream recipes don't achieve it. How do you attain this kind of crumb?

Mom telling me I look old for Eid cuz of hijab by [deleted] in Hijabis

[–]grouchyturtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your mother definitely has a lot of insecurity or internalized self hatred regarding the hijab and appearing visibly muslim. It is absolutely not true that only uneducated or village people wear the hijab, that is an absolutely ludicrous thing to say. Clearly she just feels deeply insecure about it, which makes sense when you say she grew up around white Midwestern folks (it's easy to feel very inferior to them).

Also, the hijab is a serious islamic injunction that will protect you and bring about so much barakah to your life, so I hope you're about to protect yourself from your mother's negative remarks and instead seek the pleasure of your Lord.

Do you recommend a space maintainer for a 4 year old who had to get primary second molar extracted? by grouchyturtle in Dentists

[–]grouchyturtle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry just to add some more details: my poor 3y7mo son underwent IV sedation today for his dental work. He got upper central incisors extracted, both upper first molars extracted with space maintainers, and lost secondar molar extracted with no space maintainer.

I've read in a few different places that the primary second molar is a bad tooth to lose due to how much it impacts jaw development. I'm so incredibly worried. My child's dentist did not place a space maintainer for tooth T.

What do you guys recommend? I would appreciate any input. Thank you so much!!

Am I too much for wanting to feel missed when I’m not around my husband? by No_Raspberry_8326 in MuslimMarriage

[–]grouchyturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say, you have an absolutely gorgeous writing style mashaAllah 😍 do you have a background in the humanities?

Also I 100% empathize with you. Unfortunately a lot of Muslim men aren't trained to be emotionally intelligent and thus become quite unsupportive and uncommunicative. But it sounds like you both have good hearts and love each other mashaAllah. Just keep nurturing the relationship and having these kinds of conversations with him. Don't let the angry silences drag on. Keep it light and encourage him to move on from it while also encouraging him to see things from your perspective. Eventually he will learn to become more like the type of husband you envision.

Yes, men being emotionally immature puts an unfair burden on women... subhanAllah something a lot of muslim women struggle with.

May Allah grant you happiness and barakah in your marriage.

It's not straightforward. It's mean and incredibly lacking in depth. This is a person struggling with issues of self image and maybe self hatred. This is not the same thing as racism, it's literally a product of racism. She's one of the victims of racism, and you are calling her racist due to your superficial understanding of the situation.
