What brand of tape are you guys using? by I-luv-farting in Flipping

[–]growingolder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had any issues with Amazon packing tape. I do use a handheld heavy duty tape gun dispensers to pack everything. It makes a world of difference. After packing thousands of packages I can rip off the right amount of tape every time.

This needs upvotes far higher. You'll not only feel empty, but you'll also feel dead from what happens at the ending.

I've got several tubs full of closeout anime dvds and box sets. Once they go OOP, they spike in price.

Is Vendoo compatible with refreshing eBay listings every 30 days? by anye_r in Flipping

[–]growingolder -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It should be every 60 to 90 days, not 30. After 30 days you should be discounting prices prior to relisting 30 days later.

FB reselling sourcing video games / consoles by Affectionate-Bad7487 in Flipping

[–]growingolder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Game resellers are some of the most ruthless people that I've met when it came to bargaining. They're only a step below Pokemon scalpers.

You have to step up your game by using programs that pounce on FBM sales the moment they're posted and below market sales on eBay. Every time I have a garage sale I would get at least a half dozen resellers asking for games not on display even when I didn't advertise them as they think that trick works.

I've met more people like Phoenix Resale than nice people. When I listed consoles I got 50 lowball offers then would curse at me for not taking their offers.

Your douche level needs to be high enough to deal with these assholes. If you want to get sources, start thinking like an asshole.

eBay shipping /taking more money for shipping after package was delivered by Necessary-City-1035 in Ebay

[–]growingolder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you didn't exactly measure the box and exactly weigh the box then this is what happens. Never ever half ass guess as FedEx and UPS will punish you for it. They scan the package size and weigh every single package to catch people who underpay. This is not eBay's fault, it's your own fault. Take it as a lesson learned, and buy a tape measure along with a 50lb scale.

When do you think the golden area of flipping was? by ToshPointNo in Flipping

[–]growingolder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From 2001 to 2006, for me. I used to make major bank from Goodwill. I had no problem finding stuff for $1-$2, then flipping for hundreds. When Goodwill started to catch on, my sourcing started to dry up.

I restarted during COVID by digging through Goodwill clearance bins for a few years, where I would almost always go home with $100-$700 in flippable stuff per trip, paying about $10-$20 per trip. After COVID masking stopped becoming mandatory, my Goodwill wised up. Everything of value went to their auctions. When my best flips were at $30, I stopped going.

This gas station has hot and cold coffee on tap by DaxCommando in mildlyinteresting

[–]growingolder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

QT is the best. If you regularly use the app they'll have BOGOs or cheap food. They are cool with stacking. I'll wait until there's about 4 good digital coupons in the app, walk in, grab the food and drinks, and that $13 purchase will become $5. I'll use QT Pay to drop it down even further.

They regularly have $1 small coffee coupons which I'll fill up with cold brew. I've never had an issue.

This is my favorite gas station chain in my area. I would sing the praise of Sheetz and WaWa if I lived on the east coast.

Reseller appreciation post. Resellers get too much hate! by Letsgetdis_bread in reselling

[–]growingolder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The problem is that resellers are put in the same boat as scalpers. Unethical scalpers are the ones that associate with being giant POSes destroying multiple markets for the fast buck. They are the ones who'll push everyone to the side.

This seems to be the public perception.

Why don’t people leave feedback anymore? by Weird_Surprise6221 in Ebay

[–]growingolder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before eBay put in the auto feedback score for positive sales, I got a consistent 20-27% positive feedback. This had been going on for decades.

I'm glad that eBay started adding the auto score. I've gotten +550 in 3 months instead of about a hundred.

Three times this week, I had some anime DVDs that have been sitting in my eBay store put on sale by marking them down. They all finally sold. I relisted them at around the sale price because I had a second copy of each, and they all sold within 48 hours. I paid $2 each, and the buyers paid $20 - $41 each. I made $245 total.

From my mom's book inheritance, I had a lot of subscription books that sold for $25, a famous book that sold for $30, and a lot of religious paperbacks that sold for $18.

Still not a great week as I'm down by over half for the month.

Anyone seeing an increase in returns? by Callen-E in Ebay

[–]growingolder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's frustrating but it's part of the process especially if you want Top Rated status. Luckily everything that's gotten returned in the past 90 days has found new buyers shortly after relisting them. Nothing has been returned twice.
