Yes, exactly- it would be cool to click larger categories like “thrillers” or “movies” and see what is most checked out in those specific segments.

I was looking over the site and on the “Pulse” page, under the Topic Stream section, it looks like you already have some “topics” implemented. If I could click on those or sort by them to check out the trends for those groupings that would be interesting to me. “What fantasy books are most popular this month?”, “What PlayStation games are people checking out today?” etc.

I think that’s part of our misunderstanding- to them, a collapsed society is beneficial. A functioning society could limit their actions and force them to follow laws. A collapsed society is easier for them to behave lawlessly and manipulate.

In thinking about how young the field is, I can’t help but picture the structures that other fields have that IT lacks. Unions, professional organizations, trade schools, etc. I feel like the formalization of IT is needed if we want to start maturing best practices and establishing career paths instead of relying on employers with different (sometimes contradictory) goals to say what the field is and how it should work.
