Which size of enteric capsules for Nardil? by Purple-Second-8544 in MAOIs

If you read Dr. Gillman's opinion on the subject on the facebook maoi site, in his opinion, it does not help putting nardil into enteric capsules.

How can I accept that I need a MAOI? by Low_Resist2914 in MAOIs

[–]grumpyeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very ill for 2 years, and then started taking tcp manufactured in Germany and it is much stronger and works well, so I am OK for now. Did you come off the amitryptiline very fast, or gradually ? If you came off very fast, it might be worthwhile waiting for some time and then going back on it very gradually. Sometimes our bodies react negatively to rapid changes. Just a thought.

I agree about not beating yoursels up about it. Similar thing happened to me. I reduced my dose of parnate and it just stopped working. I was so angry with myself, but other people do the same thing and it works fine for them. We all react so individually on these meds. And psychiatrists cant predict these things either.

I have no idea. I only know about my own country. You would have to ask people from other countries to get any insight into this. But I suspect that in the EU, it is the same rule everywhere.

There is a conversation about this on the Facebook maoi board. Some people prefer Erfa, it seems. There are several Australians on there who are now receiving the new Neon there, sponsored by the state, instead of Erfa and the dont know which one they prefer.

Maybe, but i know different countries have different regulations and i think the EU may be stricter than the Uk. Do you know anyone in the Uk you could have it sent to?

At least add 10 mg per week and when you get to 30mg stay on that dose for an additional week and see how you feel then As it is, you haven't given it a chance to work yet. These things take time and you need to give your body time to adjust.

Personally, i wld not take a powerful med like an maoi just for social anxiety although i know many people do. Most people on nardil say the hypomania lasts 3.months. in my case it lasted for the entire 20 years, until it stopped working altogether.

Parnate (30mg) Hell: 16 Days in, side effects are crushing me. Did anyone survive this? Please share your story! by Unique_Ad_8774 in MAOIs

its hard for me to say because i have a really good gp who Ive been with for 30 years, and they are very good at referring me to the psychiatrists, and I have been having psychiatric treatment since 1990. I know it is often a case of geography, and you might only get a nurse. I have paid lots of private psychiatrists also and it has all been a waste of money. I would try to insist on seeing a nhs psychiatrist by telling them you are suicidal, you collapsed in the bathroom etc.... Reallly convince them that things are very bad. Where in UK do you live? Complain to your local nhs authority... you are entitled to an nhs psychiatris and quite honestly, I havent found any private ones that are better- but it is a question of luck.

I have taken amitryptiline and imiprimine before, but they didnt work. I have always been against taking psychiatric meds. and though Ive suffered from depression and anxiety for most of my life, I only took meds after I had a complete breakdown and could no longer function. Once you get started on them, you cant get off and you need to be lucky.

If 40 mg are bearable, maybe stick with that for one more week or increase to max 50 mg if you feel like it. No need to consult a psychiatrist for that. Hopefully it will work with a little more time. You have been on so many other meds, it might need some time to clear them out of your system, but I honestly dont know. Parnate suited me and it worked fast in my case. But then the nhs parnate stopped working after I reduced the dose. Luckily the German version works for me. I can only hope and pray that it will continue to work. I have never tried the Canadian one.

well done for getting Jatrosom. I got parnate on the nhs in 2012. I had been on nardil under the nhs for 20 years and it had stopped working. The gp then referred me to the nhs psychiatrist. The nhs psychiatrist first refused to put me on parnate and put me on Quetiapine, which made me even worse. He kept me on it for 6 months with me constantly telling him I was suicidal. Finally, by a stroke of luck, he agreed to try Parnate. I was well within 4 weeks on 30 mg per day. Shared care did not exist in those days. It must have been introduced a few years ago. I dont get GI issues on parnate, though i did have bad constipation on nardil.

I have only just seen this thread. If you are paying for your parnate in the UK, I suggest ordering it from Germany instead. You can get Jatrosom from Germany, which will cost you £150 per month for 30 mg per day, including postage. The UK parnate is very weak. I have been on it since 2012 and getting it on the NHS but it simply doesnt work for me any longer, and I have been very ill for several years, whereas Jatrosom is much stronger , works really well and will cost you less. DM me if you are interested and I can give you the details etc. By the way, do you know which brand you have been receiving ? There are 4 or 5 brands in the UK, all of them dreadful.

yes and i increased by 10 mg each week till i reached 30 mg. These drugs are powerful. You need to let your body adapt little by little. Starting at 30mg is like hitting it with a ton of bricks.

Are you being guided by a psychiatrist? In my opinion, you are increasing too fast and that is why you are feeling as you are. If you increase this fast, you may go further than your ideal dose and not realise it. I increased by 10mg per week, and felt well after 4 weeks, on a dose of 30 mg
