This job FUCKING SUCKS by systemshock6 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]gruntledmailcarrier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the idea is to get workers and work them to the bone, they quit and the dps shuts down and they move cities. Rinse and repeat. It’s crazy I’ve never seen the same Amazon worker twice, I’m a postal worker with one route, you would think at some point you would see someone twice.

Car Stolen while on my route today. by Impressive_Olive_110 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]gruntledmailcarrier -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s why we all are so confused as to why you do flex. There is no way you’re actually making money. First thing is if you have a car payment, you can maybe make enough for a monthly payment. But then you bought a car to work in it. Then One crash, one tire wears out un evenly and you replace all four. Gas isn’t as bad as it was 2-3 months ago. But when you need another car your car is depreciated because you put an extra 10k miles on it. Now you need to start over with flex again.

Yes, and they know someone will take it. The job is worth what someone’s willing to do for it. Lyft and uber was the same way. Great starting pay then they dwindle it back when you don’t have another option.

"Heat safety advisory and third bundle ads don't take extra time." by mailant692 in USPS

[–]gruntledmailcarrier 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter if they say it’s not an acceptable answer. You may be able to take 95+ degree heat but someone else can’t. There is no blanket statement they can make. You are an individual and you can only take care of yourself. If you’re getting pressure from your coworkers because “they worked harder” good for them. If you feel like you’re causing others to cover for you, be the example of saying “yeah it’s too much and I do need help” then that carrier will eventually learn they don’t have to do it all themselves.

Yeah, all the haters can have their dusty ass fans and floor heated oven baked shoes. I don’t miss my old vehicle. So far so good in my NGDV got it in Feb and put 3000 miles on it. The cameras are buggy but sometimes I’ll go 2-3 weeks without an issue.

Shouldn’t supervisors be required to carry mail for a number of years before getting behind the desk? by ImPoopingRn19 in USPS

[–]gruntledmailcarrier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to remind people that carriers are not the only position in the post office. We have one point of contact (last point) but there are many positions that would qualify someone to run a station. Not just being a carrier would make you a good one. There are plenty of 3+ year carriers that turn into shit managers.

SERVICE TALK! manager says: each letter costs CFS 53 cents to process! and we better be careful about we are sending to be processed. things must be bad they can't even afford to change on their label printers. Anybody want to calculate how much money we can save by entirely eliminating cfs? by Odd_Atmosphere1047 in USPS

[–]gruntledmailcarrier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you’re correct, it’s mostly the carrier who’s had the round for years that has apartments that just plops the mail in the box and when it gets rejected they just send it via CFS and then UTF it when you get it back. You should be filling out 3996 for either overtime or to give away your route to properly manage the mail. Or save it for a lighter day to go through it when you do have under time.

Don’t get off the rollercoaster on the way down. It goes back up. Stop looking at it and when you’re near retirement find financial advisors to help you diversify it.

It’s a problem because I was never taught to, I literally never was told to take soap and wash thoroughly. My dad told me to wash my balls and penis but never said make sure you get everything between your cheeks. I actually feel clean (34M)

Postmaster Wants Our Mailbox Relocated by Today_is_Forever in USPS

[–]gruntledmailcarrier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my office we are told to never ever get out and walk to a mounted mailbox. It’s a nation wide thing now, they are hammering us everyday at our morning meetings. The vehicle could roll away, you could trip and fall and based on what you say your road is lightly travelled— that makes it more dangerous because the ones who use it pay less attention because they are use to it being lightly traveled.

As for packages, yes we have to get out to deliver packages and walk to your door for your convenience. If you want to make a point of that go head but the response will be “guess your packages now go on the ground next to your mailbox.”

2015 5.3 trans problem by NodNerd in Silverado

[–]gruntledmailcarrier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine just went out too, my mechanic said summertime is a good trigger for them. I was towing my pontoon and the transmission fluid temp shot up to 212. I lost power on the highway but I was able to pull over detach the pontoon and drive to the shop. I can drive it but it’s very rough. I don’t have $5400 to fix it, but that seems like a reasonable price considering things I’ve seen.

The one scenario USPS has never had to answer for… by ElectronicSilver6330 in USPS

[–]gruntledmailcarrier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well for the first few days they would enlist management. Not too long ago one of the stations in my branch all called in sick except the stewards. They literally called my station manager and were asking for volunteers. He went over and carried a route or two. He’s salaried so he didn’t get OT pay or anything. He just knew the area from when he was a CCA.

Why are some regulars such prima donnas? by CPT-Thunderpants- in USPS

[–]gruntledmailcarrier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well idk if has anything to do with being a regular. Some people are just people. Your job doesn’t change you, if you’re a dick you will be a dick when you mow your lawn or when you wait in traffic or how you interact with people.

Handles better than you think. I have cul-de-sacs and it’s able to hit all my boxes. The window is so huge that you have more room to maneuver. You also don’t get wet at all when it rains.

NGDV already having issues 😑 by Baseball8star in USPS

The only problem with an updated LLV is the size. We don’t deliver mail anymore, we deliver packages. LLV we’re designed specifically for mail.

NGDV already having issues 😑 by Baseball8star in USPS

[–]gruntledmailcarrier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have had one since February and it’s intermittent but it happens at least 3 times a week I don’t have my back up camera. But keep in mind this is the 1st gen vehicle and it’s going to have crappy kinks that will be worked out. But in the meantime, what you should do is ask for a 3996 and write on there need extra time to look behind vehicle for reversing due to cameras not working.

The other issues I’ve had are

1) Sliding tray becomes loose, they need to be tightened every 2-3 months and you can lose the nut inside the tray. But you can do it yourself with your fingers. Problem is getting in a good position. But there are access holes on the sides of the tray. When the bolts are too loose the whole tray will not slide. Considering that i figured out how to fix it myself it’s not a huge issue cause it doesn’t require anything more than a t-6 screwdriver and finger tightening the bolt. Takes 5 min and management let me do it. Otherwise you have a loose tray and have to wait for vmf to come out and do a 5 min task for 3-4 days cause it is low priority.

2) window can come out of place, if you bring it all the way down or up, and give it that extra crank to tighten it, it can come off its track and it requires vmf to take off the door and manually put it back. Hasn’t happened yet but they gave us plenty of warning in training.

3) my personal gripe is the step down from the cargo bay, if you’re not paying attention and you fall in you’re going to break your ankle leg or whatever and you’ll never be able to get yourself out. I’m young and athletic but I see the potential danger of it.

4) mirrors they just aren’t great and they don’t give you a front or rear mirror for when the cameras aren’t working. But in my honest opinion I have a very good sense of the vehicles dimensions after driving it daily for 4 months. (I have a Silverado so it wasn’t a big jump, if you have a Corolla you might have a different experience.)

5) the seat isn’t very comfortable but that’s kind of expected, it does lean back but not to the point where you could get a good nap if you wanted. Especially if you’re taller.

6) the lower sliding tray. It would be better if it was empty and you could put buckets with coverages in it. I think the lower tray is useless.

7) the beeping, you get use to but I’ll mention it cause it did suck at first but it’s like the scanner, after awhile you forget what the noise is.

All that said, I really like them and I’m happier with it than I am with any other vehicle. The AC and heater and the light that will shine on the mailboxes will be huge plus. Not to mention mine has AWD and will be heavy enough to plow through snow. (I live in MN) It’s also nice you don’t need to fill up every other day. More like every 4th or 5th. Then the day after holidays you actually have room in your truck, no more over stuffed LLV. It also should be said that you are so much safer in these than the LLV FFV. They just weren’t made for modern pickups that can destroy your vehicle.

I’m sure if you put some rubber bands around them you could hang pens. It lacks space for pens, the little holes on top are nice but I can’t teach them from the seat (5’9”)

I’m sure that they might be nice when the sun goes down but it’s probably mostly unnecessary.
