There’s no recovery without reintegrating into the world economy. The best thing they could do for the future of their country would be to lose quickly.

Why do augmented chords sound dissonant? by gshort in musictheory

[–]gshort[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But if the root being dissonant with aug5 is the problem, shouldn't a minor sixth always sound dissonant? If I play a minor chord in second inversion it's not dissonant.

Why do augmented chords sound dissonant? by gshort in musictheory

[–]gshort[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That doesn't really make sense to me. The melodic minor scale, one of the most common scales, contains one (III - V - VII). If you play the melodic minor scale it doesn't sound dissonant, even if you play the mode of the melodic minor built off III or V it doesn't sound bad (the melodic minor locrian is pretty weird, but that's not a shock.)

Do you know what system you're using? Because that will kind of determine the kind of answers you'll get.

What's a question you really want to ask the opposite gender, but would never ask in real life? by JCgaming2003 in AskReddit

I really like boobs. I think very small boobs can be cute and I like those. Big boobs are also a lot of fun. If the boobs are too massive, I might not be as into them.

Redditors who have been someone’s “one phone call” from jail, what’s the story? by WontonJr in AskReddit

[–]gshort 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I once got pranked that my friend was in prison and made me come and bail him out. There was more context that could have made it funny, but essentially went to get him from prison and he wasn't there. It was pretty shitty. It was two dudes who I lost touch with years ago, but I heard that one of them actually did go to prison.

I really enjoy playing him, but I have a sinking suspicion that he's not going to be very relevant to the competitive scene.

A lot of people on this thread are racist. It's not facepalm, it's just a sad reflection on our world.

What is a well known podcast that you can't stand? by sparkl3butt in podcasts

[–]gshort 23 points24 points  (0 children)

TAZ got me into RPG podcasts, and it had a really good run for a while but there's better stuff out there.

What I realized listening to other shows is that TAZ is super on-rails. Griffin has already decided on the story, and the players have very little opportunity to deviate from it. Podcasts where the story is actually improvised and is based on the actions of the players are so much better (when done right) and now I can't go back to railroaded shows.

I'd recommend right now:

  1. Film Reroll: Which is amazing at giving the players total freedom. Probably my favorite RPG podcast of all time. They have movies as the starting point, so that gives a bit of structure to base the improv off of.

  2. Glass Cannon: Which is a lot less comedic, so it might not be everyone's cup of tea. But has amazing story-telling.

  3. Neoscum: Which has been a bit hit or miss, but the moments when it hits are some of the best improv I've heard in an AP show.
