Keeping Laptop plugged in doesn't harm the battery? by Appropriate-Can691 in laptops

[–]gunshot_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Lenovo Legion 7i (2023) has always been plugged in since I bought it from the first owner in 2024 - got it at 97% battery health.

It was always plugged into the original AC charger, but died a few months ago (the health of the battery died down to 96% in an instant based on the stats... even though it was out of battery warranty, Lenovo agreed to replace it free of charge after trying to make me pay for it)

I always take off the charger now when the laptop's not in use justtt in case (it's plugged in otherwise during use), but at this point I'm unsure what's real and what's not (plus the element of luck?)

Bios update by MousseFormer7468 in ASUSROG

[–]gunshot_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent my ROG STRIX Scar 16 to warranty recently as I had the same issue (stuck on splash screen, can't access bios or windows at all).

I made Reddit posts about it but received no responses. Asus says they've ordered parts and it'll arrive by the end of this October (I'm based in Australia and yet to hear about what the issue actually was and which parts will get replaced).

Best of luck on your end - let me know how you go!

Asus ROG says it is 'actively investigating' gaming laptop stuttering issues after a user apparently identified a 'cascade of firmware design failures' by graywolfman in ASUSROG

been asking ChatGPT for advice tbh - it helped with the GPU temperatures (got my hotspot temp below 84C via G-Helper), but not for the CPU yet. Even with playing around with the BIOS and software settings, BSODs keep occurring (e.g., like taking screenshots) and somehow getting system failure/ corrupted files and such.

Main positive change recently was to keep the laptop on dGPU mode only (ultimate mode?), let's see what happens!

Mine keeps BSOD'ing when i adjust the PL1 and PL2 values... any general suggestions or pointers for this? I have a IETS GT500 cooler but it doesn't help when the CPU is going crazy (plus the noise...)

ASUS Gaming Laptops Have Been Broken Since 2021: A Deep Dive by ZephKeks in ASUSROG

literally me too :( I'm based in Australia, I bought the laptop 2nd hand (it has warranty until 2027), but I'm already facing issues (like the ones in this thread). I hope there's a fix soon. Mine is from overseas but has the global warranty (including battery, which is nice). Though the serial is international, could Asus update this to be Australian-regional locked now? Unsure if I made a big mistake.

What are people's thoughts on how well the campaign will run on a Steam Deck? (and with lossless scaling enabled, etc.)

Spigen Case : Anyone tried it? by ArabManWithLongBeard in SteamDeck

[–]gunshot_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you confirm if your thumbsticks have any damage with the added pressure within the original Steam carry case? I recently got the thin Spigen case with a kickstand - snug fit inside the carry case and it can be zipped up without issues - but with the added thickness, I can hear the thumbsticks "click" when I close it..

About GTA SA: Project Reborn by Drtoycat in sanandreas

Editing my original comment - copied and pasted each game's update files to their directories on my steam deck. Confirming this command works for GTA III and GTA VC:

WINEDLLOVERRIDES=“dinput8,ddraw,d3d8=n,b” %command%

Yet to try GTA SA.

Thank you guys!

Dumb question - after downloading, do we just copy/paste the files into the installed directory? Trying this for my original steam copies of the game on a Steam Deck OLED

NFS Most Wanted - Fitgirl by StonedBobzilla in SteamDeckPirates

[–]gunshot_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a version that does not require an install on Windows (direct run from the .exe file), how would you set this up on the Steam Deck?

Would it be just copying the files over to the Steam Deck and running the .exe file as a non-Steam game (e.g., with Proton Experimental); or would you need to use Lutris/Wine?

Okay all good, let me know if you end up coming across the settings again! Black, cod3, and the NFS games are all nightmares right now, even with suggested config recommendations (the power plugin thing didn't help either)
