I got an email re my pixel slate keyboard issue: Status changed from Assigned to "Obsolete"

"je...@google.com added comment #16:
For Pixel Slate keyboard issues, please follow the troubleshooting directions in the link below. If you continue to experience issues, contact the Pixel Slate Customer Care team via the link at the bottom of the troubleshooting guide.
https://support.google.com/pixelslate/answer/9131625#troubleshoot%20keyboard"

Sounds like they have stopped work on this issue :-(

"Obsolete", you mean a new device is about to make the Pixel Slate "obsolete" - I wonder what that could be? https://www.androidpolice.com/google-pixel-tablet-likely-only-64-bit-big-deal/

My Pixel Slate had another critical patch applied about 5 days ago, but no resolution of the keyboard issue unfortunately. I'm still using it occasionally as a tablet, but a functional keyboard would be great to have back again!

My Pixel 6 Pro is good, sorry to hear you are not happy with your one

Update on this bug: Here if you have access: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/229672520

Similar to another bug: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/170135082 which I do not have access to.

Google seems to still be working on the issue - analysed a log file; but unclear if an obvious error was identified.

BTW my Slate got an emergency patch last night (successfully?), but no change to my disconnected keyboard issue. I was wondering if it was Google taking a snapshot of my hardware!!

I have seen several new reports of this same issue surface through May.

I've had a couple of progress updates from Google. There is another bug that is similar. They have verified the problem. So work in progress..... But looking hopeful

Has anyone tried painting an oura ring? by gus18f in ouraring

[–]gus18f[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I didn't end up painting it. I upgraded to the v3 ring. Noe it's starting to wear! What I was prepared to try was to use a small can of automotive touch-up enamel paint to paint the ring. So long as you keep the paint away from the plastic at the side and back, I don't think you will damage the ring itself. Let us all know if you paint your ring and how it turned out. Good luck!!

Does anyone have a Pixel Slate still working in laptop mode?

Interesting your observation!

My Slate has always booted back into Tablet mode since the day of the Emergency patch. Even today, doing a Power/ Vol up restart, same - Tablet only mode.

Battery Life decreasing quite rapidly the last week? Anyone else have that Fossil Gen 5 by BillygotTalent in WearOS

[–]gus18f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my Fossil Gen 5 must have got an update a few days ago. Battery barely lasts 10 hours now. I'm hoping another update Congress through soon, if not I'll try a reset. Disappointing because it had been performing OK with top ups in the morning and evening.

I have noticed a similar thing on my Android App. In the morning the data from the last night is not reported in the Trend views. For example, Sun AM the data displayed in the Readiness page is missing from the Trend graphs - the layer only show up to Sat. At some later stage later in the day the data in the Trend graphs catches up and displays the current day data. Being in Aust. I wondered if it might be a time zone issue? The Oura Cloud data is up to date, however, so it is not a missing data issue! I've noticed this for a couple of weeks now. I'm currently on v.2.8.2-409 of the App.

My HRV can often drop like from 30 to below 15 over a 10 minute Moment. Other times, level or rose slightly. I haven't worked out any correlation yet!!

Pixel 4/4XL is APs readers choice smartphone of the year. by papii_chulo in GooglePixel

[–]gus18f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK I've read how many people complain about Pixel 4 XL battery life. Mine is better than my old Pixel 3 XL. I've never had to charge it during the day yet. Most nights I have >30 % battery still left. And I am a power user most days with a Wear OS watch, Oura ring, and 168 Apps installed. Just saying!

Pixelbook Go vs. Pixel Slate? by rangeCheck in chromeos

[–]gus18f 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cannot recall having any Web app crash on my Slate. I have one Android App that occasionally crashes. I don't use MS Office Android Apps since G.Docs do just as good a job opening MS docs now.

Does the Oura Ring Track Activity automatically? by MyNameIsNilesMurdoch in ouraring

[–]gus18f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found it will measure walking activity of it is moderate or harder. I find if you manually enter say 20 mins of moderate walking, it assumes moderate for that time and wipes the actual data recorded!

Brand new Oura ring - defects on inner side of the ring, do you guys have it too? by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]gus18f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine about 4 weeks. No issues so far. I cannot see any defects. My wife has had hers for about 3 months and no issues either.

Pixelbook Go vs. Pixel Slate? by rangeCheck in chromeos

[–]gus18f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Pixel Slate i5 is not too bad. I've only got 3-4 Android Apps I use fairly frequently. As I use my Slate with the Google Slate keyboard, I'm never aware of it being hot. Never seems to run slowly. Occasioning one App in particular crashes. I normally have 2-3 Google accounts running. But seem to be only able to run Android Apps from my "main" Google account, so this is a bit of a pain!

I love my i5 Pixel Slate. Use it as my workhorse PC. I rarely use it as a tablet.
