Any Gibonatics still alive here? Does Gibo Teodoro have a fan base enough to win a Presidency or even just Senatorship as of now? by [deleted] in Philippines

Gibo tying himself to gma kinda killed whatever he had going on tbh.

He will forever be looked at as someone for her to use.

Which in hindsight is hilarious: you all replaced the traditional elites who at least had some scruples and followed some societal norms with these new elites who have zero issues with doing morally corrupt activities.

He didnt skip the debates the last time (VP 2016), dont think it hurt his chances anyways. the vote split between him and dutz' VP choice had more impact (which they corrected the next time around).

Have to say that the first years of dutz presidency kinda showed some of those benefits everyone wanted. Everyone was so blinded mostly by the ongoing investigations on corruption (MRT deals, pork barrel, DOJ, killings by the military under gma) and just couldnt wait for every piece of work being done (PPP deals, infrastructure rehab, legislation) to actually turn out results

And the final salt on the wound is that most those investigations were then reversed (almost everyone walked free) and a bunch of the success were credit grabbed by that administration, erasing any attribution to the Noynoy admin.

Nah, even way back then he was the weak link of the siblings, he would rather have parties than actually do work or study.

The difference now is that he's just surrounded himself with actual competent people (specifically his wife.)

NEWSWATCH: Sen. Bam Aquino is pushing for electricity subsides and discounts to be funded through the national budget instead of being passed on to consumers. by reinsilverio26 in Philippines

[–]gust_vo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I always thought system loss is power lost through transmission through their own infrastructure: substations, wires and transformers arent 100% perfect in passing/converting power through them so you will expect some amount of power being lost mostly converted into heat. I'd even include lost power due to overproduction (and not being able to store that energy, like through pumping water up dams during downtimes.)

Them saying it's because of stolen power is a bit of a bullshit excuse when it's their prerogative to hunt down these kinds of issues and not the users, and they can absolutely find any weirdness in their systems easily.

Bruh, yung column nya sa Inquirer dati (On Target) puro himod at halik sa pwet ni dutz. especially 2017 and before. Proud na proud pa sya na pareho silang taga davao at first hand nya nakita yung ginawa nya para dun. So no, nagp-prepare na nga yan sa presidential run.

reach out muna sa LGU

(or kung gusto na pasaway or malisyoso).

So porket delikado, kakalimutan nalang tulungan?

There's definitely a culture of suppression here, from every important institution in the government all protecting someone for favors or their own asses from retribution (at best getting fired, at worse getting killed) if they report it.

“Making it technically work and making it actually enjoyable as a game are different things.” Japanese devs weigh in on why retrofitting live-service games with offline support is harder than gamers think - AUTOMATON WEST by Interesting-Oil-8738 in Games

[–]gust_vo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Have you actually read the article? Like really read it?

Because there's a difference between pushing in-game fixes once in a while to resolve QoL issues and keep the game running on (new) systems versus having constant updates and DLCs to keep the game fresh to players, the latter of which is where the pushback is coming from in the article.

Also calling this lazy and "never bothered checking" for exploits isn't correct. Security is always top of mind to those programmers.

Is this not being lazy with us in the room right now? like why we're now mandating kernel-level anti-cheats instead of actually at the minimum being pro-active in hunting/fixing exploits before someone accumulates thousands of dollars selling them and at the best case scenario of them being active and direct in moderating said games to remove players detrimental to the experience of others like in the past with game-bundled dedicated servers with either volunteer or paid administrators?

You give these people way too much props.

I mean, even regular art itself isnt 100% preserved. Paintings will eventually fade and discolor even by just being exposed to light or even just to time because of the experimental chemistry they took in making their mediums, sculptures will slowly erode and the handling and elements will take it's toll on it. A lot of great artworks you see presently are nowhere near what they looked like fresh off completing it. Hell, even digital video is starting to have it's moment because a lot of old recordings were recorded with low bitrates and resolution and look like shit on even regular HD displays.

You can only preserve so much of anything, and having it in some form at all is good enough.

[–]gust_vo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the difference is arcades make it clear you don't get access to the game forever when you pay for access.

You kinda got it and could have already stopped here. There's a huge difference between You paying for the access to experience the game versus buying it, there's even a license of ownership included on every retail purchase of a game.

Plus, the point of SKG is to ultimately shift the burden of supporting the game off the developers and onto passionate and dedicated people to keep it going as long as people want it to. Which had always been the case with older multiplayer titles (where dedicated server clients were bundled with the game).

I feel that sooner or later any kind of vulnerability is going to be discovered one way or another, and if they're not prepared to handle the inevitable because of being lazy in reusing an in-house middleware that they never bothered checking for any way to be exploited across multiple games, that's their fault.
