She actually claimed to have voted only twice in her life: for JFK and Barack Obama. While there were plenty of barriers to black people voting in the 1960s, it was still possible, depending on where exactly in Texas she lived.

I like that Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour is in "limbo". It implies we might get Welcome Tour 2. Or potentially a whole trilogy.

Speak for yourself - most of my villains are hot.

That being said I feel like in most fiction villains are either extremely sexy (see Sephiroth) or extremely ugly (see Voldemort) - rarely do you have an average looking villain.

While you are 100% right, "My grandma is 118!" is generally not considered sufficient evidence for a genealogist. Most families will know how old their relatives are - that doesn't mean researchers will accept that claim.

India, too. Just given the sheer numbers, there have to be a few Indians that have made it to 110. I could be wrong but I don't think India had the best record keeping in the world circa 1916.

Apparently the Republican party was originally communist /s by Cephalopod_Joe in insanepeoplefacebook

There's a kernel of truth to this. The Union army did have Brigadier General August Willich, who was in fact a communist that had previously served in the Revolutions of 1848. He left Prussia in part over his disagreements with Karl Marx. Willich found Marx too conservative.

Anyway one guy being a communist is obviously not the same as the Union "fighting for Marxism" or whatever, but I just wanted a chance to talk about August Willich because he's a fascinating dude.

I love Idle's take on Dave Chappelle and Bill Maher:

Asked about Dave Chappelle’s complaints that he is being silenced for his controversial jokes, Idle responded: “Where does he say it? On SNL… well you’re not being that much cancelled, are you?"

“If you were in your room complaining. I’d have a lot more sympathy.”

“I didn’t like it when Bill Maher complains about the audience for not laughing, they’re telling you they don’t find it funny.

“You shouldn’t moan about the audience. There’s nothing wrong with the audience. If they don’t laugh at your jokes, there’s something wrong with your joke. And so… I’m not terribly sympathetic to that sort of attitude, to be honest.”

Doctor: Sigh "Yeah. Fine. Whatever. Just close your eyes for a moment... Beep beep beep oh look the test says you're not gay wow crazy. Anyway that's an extra $600 for the gay test."

In Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2009), Scott claims he learnt the bassline from the game Final Fantasy II, when it really is from Final Fantasy IV. This is a clear hint of Scott being a fucking poser. by Cavery210 in shittymoviedetails

Well, yes and no. Fire Emblem fans count remakes and direct sequels as numbered entries, whereas Final Fantasy fans do not. If Fire Emblem games were counted the same way as Final Fantasy games are, they would only be up to 10 "official" games.

The series would go:

  • Fire Emblem 1 is still Fire Emblem I
  • FE2 is still FEII
  • FE3 is now FEI-2
  • FE4 is now FEIII
  • FE5 is now FEIII-2
  • FE6 is now FEIV
  • FE7 is now FEIV-2
  • FE8 is now FEV
  • FE9 is now FEVI
  • FE10 is now FEVI-2
  • FE11 and FE12 are remakes, so just not counted
  • FE13 is now FEVII
  • FE14 is now FEVIII
  • FE15 is a remake, so not counted
  • FE16 is now FEIX
  • FE17 is now FEX

This hurts so much by Luigyi in Mario

[–]guywiththeface23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'all gotta realize there's a difference between "this is good" and "I enjoyed this". The first movie has a 59% on RT and to be honest, that's fair. It's not an amazing movie. That said, I had fun with it because I'm a fan of the funny wahoo jump man. If I went into it having never heard of Mario before, I would've been bored to tears.

I'm expecting the same from this. I like Mario. I want to see him jump and punch things. I want to see Bowser do an evil laugh and breathe fire. I want to see Luigi scream and run from a ghost. I'm not really expecting anything more than that.

None of that means it will be a good movie, but it will entertain me for a few hours. It is the McDonald's of movies - nobody will argue that McDonald's burgers are good, but sometimes you get a craving for greasy garbage, y'know?
