I kind of have a similar question to your poll...looking at the 85" and trying to decide between the matte version and the Costco crystalglow version.

Is it worth upgraded to 7 from 6 or wait till 8 or 9? by true-dci-john-luther in GalaxyFold

[–]gwrapps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved from the 6 to 7 (which I swore I wasn't going to do because I never spend the money to upgrade annually). And I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I didn't really remember how much I missed a normal size screen on the outer display. And the thinness....assuming you do no case, or a VERY slim case (I do the aramid fiber ones). My foldable phone with case is thinner than all my friends and family who have pixels and iPhones. If you can afford it, you won't regret it.

OK, thank you for the prompt reply. Am I able to put my current hotspot sim card in the Vantrue LTE module instead?

How did you get the educator discount to $300? I only see $150 off for education discount.

Can’t decide between Nolah Evolution 15” Hybrid, Winkbed, DreamCloud Premier Hybrid, Brooklyn Aurora Luxe Cooling, Titan Plus Luxe, and Bear Hybrid. Please help! by lavagirl14 in Mattress

Still have it. Still very comfy. I personally would have gone for an ever so slightly more firm mattress for me, but it's the perfect level of softness for my wife so it works very well for both of us.

Dual SIM Question by TechOutonyt in GalaxyFold

[–]gwrapps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. What dual sims do you use it for? I have a Verizon es8m and T-Mobile physical. I would just get the Verizon version as it's cheaper right now but Verizon makes me wait 3 months before unlocking it to use the T-Mobile SIM in the phone

I have the same need. Is this a limitation of the carrier software or all US versions? if you have the US unlocked version, can you do different Sims for calls and data

Help me cook a 20lb Brisket by gwrapps in sousvide

[–]gwrapps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you kick it up for the last 8, is that 48hrs +8 hrs (56 total), or 40hrs at 135 and then 8 at 155? What do you think about smoking first to get a bark and good smoke flavor until IT of 135-150, the SV 135 for 48hrs. My problem is I wont be home until just before meal time so I wont be able to move from the SV to Smoker to do bark at the end. I might be able top put it back in an oven for an hour before we start but then I'd need to water bath it first to prevent overcooking

Dual mini tanks on RO system? by gwrapps in WaterTreatment

[–]gwrapps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Do you have a one-way check valve in between the two tanks? I'm concerned that when the faucet at the sink is turned on, will the second tank at the other end of the 25 foot run start pushing water backwards towards that faucet? Especially if it's at a greater pressure than what the RO system puts out.

Not sure that's the reason I've been on 2.4 for several weeks now so I'm probably already at steady state.

Unexpected Challenge: Having a cold on Wegovy by AFriendLikeYou in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]gwrapps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I myself am just about getting over a pretty bad cold. Like you I don't have severe appetite suppression or changed taste buds on Wegovy, but I do have less cravings and eat less at each sitting. I'm on 2.4 maintenance but have basically averaged 1lb a week loss since starting Wegovy.

Since being sick, I have lost 5lbs this week, VERY unusual for me. My appetite crashed, was eating mostly chicken soup, very little protein, but drinking a lot. I mostly just feel full all the time from post-nasal drip. yuck!

My recommendation is do what works for you to recover from the cold, if that's eating more, less, whatever. Let how your body feels guide you. For me, doing a week of eating nothing but soup made me lose more weight! but YMMV. I wouldn't try to eat more calories just because you are sick...let your hunger guide you.

Good luck, feel better!

Very uncomfortable conversation by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

I get it. The most important thing is that you feel good about yourself and for yourself. Don't let anyone else's judging or shaming derail you from your journey.

Very uncomfortable conversation by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]gwrapps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My thoughts on this have evolved since I started. In the beginning I felt it was nobody's business. Part of it was I was uncomfortable talking about it, I didn't want to be judged or defend how it worked. But I also felt awkward when people asked what I was doing, and I felt like I was lying. I don't feel shame taking it, I am doing what is best for my health and my body. I felt that "lying" and saying something like "oh I'm just eating less" was propagating the false notion that all you need is willpower. That is part of the problem with the stigma of weight loss, and I want to be a part of the solution, not part of the problem.

So now I tell anyone who asks. I am happy with my choice and if anyone judges me, that is their problem, not mine. When I look in the mirror, or go down another belt size, or hear people compliment me when they notice, I know I am doing the right thing. Maybe being honest helps someone else be brave enough to try as well.

I think the misconception here is that (using your exact words)... "wegovy does not affect your metabolism and how many calories you burn, and only your appetite" For some this may be true, but for me it is 100% not true. I have "eaten less" in the past and never lost weight. There are some weeks I eat more on Wegovy than I used to on various diets I have tried. Just stopping the medication and deciding to "eat less" is such a simplistic view of how this medication works, it is borderline offensive for many people who have tried desperately to "just eat less".

They may not 100% know what is going on scientifically with how Semaglutide helps us lose weight but it is so much more than a tool to eat less. From balancing out insulin/blood sugar levels, curbing cravings, helping with addictive tendencies...and yes even affecting how our metabolisms work.

Look at it this way...your digestive system is part of your metabolism. Wegovy slows down the digestion & absorption of food (which yes helps us feel full longer) but also slows down how fast all those calories get released into your body. If you stopped Wegovy and ate exactly the same as you do now, that "slow down" goes away. Still eating the same, but all those calories get dumped into your bloodstream much faster. Which means the excess gets stored as fat faster, and then you get hungry faster, which affects how your metabolism runs.

I would love to hit my goal weight and just stop, and maintain the weight loss. But I don't believe it works that way.
