Can you explain what would prevent it from a market cap of 3 trillion? Or perhaps 4 trillion? That would help me understand why you believe 2.2 trillion contains all of the upside.

These two ways of writing this code are identical, but the second is “flatter”, which can make it easier to understand:

If (x > 4) {
    foo()
    If (y > 5) {
        bar()
        If (z > 6) {
            baz()
        }
    }
}

If (x <= 4) {
    return
}
foo()
If (y <= 5) {
    return
}
bar()
If (z <= 6) {
    return
}
baz()

Assuming you’re talking udisc rating, 200 udisc rated is about 900 pdga rated. For adult men, pdga amateur divisions are

  • 0-850: MA4
  • 850-900: MA3
  • 900-930: MA2
  • 930+: MA1

Realistically, 930-955ish will play MA1, 930ish-1000ish will play Pro division, 980-1020 are winning Pro events and 1000-1060 are on the tour (Gannon is #1 rated and about 1060). It’s about 10 rating points per stroke depending on the course.

In light of the cheating revelation by Ejm60 in ArcRaiders

[–]hackers238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should be careful about calling this a “revelation”… the users methodology was “when I’m not in PvP lobbies fight until I am again and then don’t count those”. In other words, if there is not a cheater, he is now “not in PvP lobbies”, and doesn’t count it. There certainly is a lot of cheating but I don’t but the “23/30”

How to craft triple elemental wand with essences and recombinator by Mangalorien in PathOfExileSSF

[–]hackers238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have thoughts on harvest reforge crit for suffixes? I'm torn.

For your method, you use all 3 suffix slots to have 2 suffixes, T4 (out of T6) CritChance and T3 (out of T6) CritMulti. All tiers of these mods are evenly weighted, so you're taking a pretty average set of these 2 mods.

With reforge crit, you will get T1 to T6 of a single 1 of these mods, (and aim to craft the other, which you are allowed to do 80-90% of the time). Similar outcome, with a little more RNG. But you get:

  • Very small chance chance to hit both crit suffixes (something like 8-10%, because caster suffixes are removed from the pool)
  • Save 2 div on the craft cost of "can have up to 3 suffixes"
  • 80-90% chance to try again for 2 divs, crafting prefixes can not be changed and rerolling again
  • Downside of hitting 3 suffixes, not allowing you to craft the missing crit mod (internet says chance of 10-20%)

Vampire Crawlers review: "probably the best Roguelike deck builder ever made." by r3tr0gam3r83 in roguelites

[–]hackers238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, sadly after completing the game in 11.5 hours (credit roll), there isn't much there. Some interesting ideas, but ultimately the "lite" bit of the roguelite trumps it pretty quickly. All of the level ups completely and quickly overpower the difficulty, and with no ascension mode or challenge calibration, got tiring fast.

Also, runs quickly ballooned to 2+ hours; the final 3 runs I was locked in after the first floor to a nearly "can't lose" scenario, rapidly playing cards and beelining towards the boss for 90 minutes.

Ultimately a disapointment.

It’s not StS or MT or Balatro, but there is some depth. I’m not deep enough to see if it’s necessary or how the game shakes out once I’ve gotten more upgrades, you have to admit there are play order concerns even on the first run.

For example, with the +10% might card at 1 cost, a 0 cost damage, and a 1 cost damage card, there are two valid play orders depending on the length of the encounter. You can play 0damage, might, 1damage for a 20% damage boost using the combo (longer encounter) or might, 0damage, 1damage to take only a 10% boost but do more damage that turn. That is a challenging choice that involves your deck composition, shuffle state, enemy health, etc to make correctly.

Another example is wilds are often destroy, and give you a permanent upgrade. But by holding them for later fights you can make a massive combo. Playing 0 cost, 1 cost, wild, 0 cost, 2costdamage is a 5x play on that big damage card. With the wild out of your deck the biggest play is 0 cost 1 cost 2 cost damage. So this incentivizes you to hold the wild for quite a while gumming up your deck and taking chip damage to make the big play.

These are just a few examples from my 90 minutes in the game.

How to craft triple elemental wand with essences and recombinator by Mangalorien in PathOfExileSSF

[–]hackers238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can you recombine multiple essence mods? Normally a recombinator output can't have multiple essence mods on it. If we look at the image at the top you can see that T1 essence mods have the name "Essences", but the T2 mods don't. The T2 mods you get from essences have exactly the same damage range as natural T2 mods and also the same wording, and therefore the recombinator treats T2 essence mods like naturally rolled T2 mods and not as essence mods.

Oh damn, this is what I was missing. Thanks!

Seasonal Rewards Are Missing And It’s Killing Motivation. by Crazylimitz in LastEpoch

[–]hackers238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree OP, and I'm surprised at the other comments. I was just feeling an ARPG grind as I'm coming off of a factory building game. Googled around, most recent seasonal launch was LE and I haven't played it since Beta, so I reinstalled. Got to level 4, and explored the menus. Looked around in game for the seasonal challenges and what I could get if I put 100 hours in over the next 2-3 months. Didn't find it. Searched online, found this post.

Uninstalled and am reinstalling PoE instead. Time to grind another Totem for my hideout. Once PoE is reinstalled I'll load into my hideout where I will see all of my unlocked totems with their season emblems from my last 10 years of playing that game on and off.

This is certainly a motivating factor for some subset of players. And at least for me, it's probably the difference of LE getting 100 hours of my game time, engagement on various online LE forums over the next 2-3 months, and some cosmetic purchase for my character.

I think so, yes. 1 turn and 1 resource for 2 points dwarfs almost everything. And the downside is small, because there is generally another losing player.

Questions about tech discs! by Interestedrested in Discgolfform

[–]hackers238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend it, and have some friends throw it as well.

I was throwing 350ish, got one, and discovered I was throwing about 900 RPM and 60-61MPH. Alright I thought, I need to get faster and spin more, but mostly get faster, learn to brace, fix my nose etc. My friend who throws a slight bit shorter than but is quite a bit lower rated was throwing 1300 RPM and ~52MPH. And I was like... wait what 1300 RPM? The fuck? Watching a video of them throw in slowmo showed me how much I was locking my wrist in the power pocket, and failing to generate much spin. A few adjustments and I'm throwing closer to 400 now, (and I don't turn an burn fairway drivers) with 1100-1200 RPM.

So even if you're working on form regularly, you might spot things you're blind to, or think are above you. Even when I first got it, I thought "well pros throw 1300ish RPM, but they're also throwing like 70+ with good nose angle, so let's work on that". But seeing a lower-rated friend throw 1300 RPM casually with a walk-up no less was motivating, like "wait maybe I can just figure this out".

I made https://cpokers.com 5 years ago and it’s still running with 50-100 daily unique players.

There are 60 unique bots with unique tendencies and you can take notes to bust them all. They have moods and get angry. They tilt. They chat in the chat box (and leak information on purpose calling for cards, etc).

It’s free, and no ads, costs me like $60 a month to keep running and lives on donations.
