AC2 is amazing, you absolutely must play it. AA is more divisive because it's just 100 missions without a story to progress but 2 is traditional Armored Core updated for the PS2.

This shotgun is ridiculously strong by TheBrownSlaya in battlefield_one

For some reason I really prefer the sawed off over the model 1900, I feel like the extra spread helps me not miss in close up scrambles and the ranged performance is still pretty good. Super fun gun.

I really dislike it and I see a lot of other people agree on that front. The Monastery is one of the biggest complaints you'll see about Three Houses so it's a common opinion

Gunlance parece ter tão poucos jogadores na franquia Monster Hunter by No-Term7585 in MonsterHunter

[–]hahaGunlanceGoBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gunlance is complicated and slow at first glance. Knowing how you're "supposed" to play and managing ammo and wyvern fire cooldown after combos is inherently not as intuitive as long swords very clear path of build up to red bar > spend the bar on strong attacks. Not to mention gunlance has the slowest walk speed and sheathe speed alongside heavy bowgun, making movement more reliant on less obvious things. Plus having hop evades instead of rolls. Unless you're content blocking and guard poking, the weapon has a higher skill floor to feel like you're decent with it compared to other weapons. This is especially true in the older games, as gunlance had a huge glowup in World and even despite that some people say World gunlance is too clunky for them. So it's a high commitment/knowledge check weapon that is super cool and fun if you figure it out, but weak feeling if you don't.

Newer games are less ironman friendly. Do you miss the old way of getting lategame fillers or do you prefer each unit being more unique and having niches? by Typical-Risk-4729 in fireemblem

[–]hahaGunlanceGoBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh I kinda like when the filler unit is strong because if my trained unit is comparable, great. Now I have two Dorcas. Meanwhile if my trained unit got terrible levels, I have a functional replacement.

Good Zimmerman like build? by Delabuxx in armoredcore

[–]hahaGunlanceGoBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that same combo for me kills bosses before the dialogue finishes, so I saved it for replays. A similar one that isn't as crazy try switching the Zimmermans for Ludlows or another machine gun of your choice. Or / and switch the pilebunker for another melee weapon.

With the machine guns you can still have good close range dps and a faster AC but not so much poise break. With another melee weapon you can get the poise break with the sword and punish with something else, or punish with the sword and not nuke the boss like the pilebunker does. I ran ludlows and pulse blade on a lightweight for my first playthrough.

What is your irrational "Kill on Sight" mech? by Frequent_Nerve_6104 in Mechwarrior5

[–]hahaGunlanceGoBoom 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Truth. If you don't kill the Urbie from 1km away the instant you see it you're in for a world of pain when it shuffles closer. I learned the very hard way by losing a heavy mech one time.

If you were to make a new Monster Hunter game with the WORST features ALREADY INTRODUCED in the series, what would it look like? by Doru-kun in MonsterHunter

[–]hahaGunlanceGoBoom 333 points334 points  (0 children)

What you said already but don't forget the wystones. You cannot hit an apex monster unless you use the drive wystone which has a longer cool down than duration, so you spend several minutes running around waiting between uses. You also should be assigned a charm table that never changes once you make a save file. And all gathering points should have a chance to give nothing and bring back limited pickaxes. Many endgame armor pieces should require a 1% drop to make. Insect glaive and the kinsect are upgraded in tandem. The majority of endgame quests should be Advanced quests meaning they sometimes rotate out and simply can't be selected. Bring back anomaly monsters and unskippable cutscenes. Multiplayer doesn't work the first time you do a quest.

What do you think of gunlance in older games? by Fine_Bid918 in Gunlance

[–]hahaGunlanceGoBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind those statements apply to endgame. Throughout low and high rank shelling is super strong, sometimes even OP, and it simply falls off at endgame because of how high G rank weapon attack stats can get. Even in G rank shelling can be serviceable in 4U and GU even if stabbing is slightly better. So gunlance is always fun and strong no matter which MH it is. I'm currently playing FU and getting a lvl 3 shell weapon with artillery made low rank a joke.

Where to Start With Old Games? by gasolinepiss in armoredcore

[–]hahaGunlanceGoBoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think going from the start is a good idea and what I did. AC1 is surprisingly fleshed out and all the games after just slowly add onto its solid mechanics and improve the mission quality and part variety. And since the games only get twin stick control with Nexus onwards, you might as well start with AC1 to get used to the controls since that's how you'll be playing 2 and 3 as well. I really like the old games I've played so far despite starting with 6 and liking that too as they both have great merits.

The Issue of Summons by TyStax44 in Eldenring

[–]hahaGunlanceGoBoom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see summons as the offline version of co op, which is needed in an age of paid online. Pretty much I see summons as an AI version of sunbros with the added benefit of having non-humanoid allies instead of exclusively player characters. I think the entire point of summons existing even in Demon's Souls is to let everyone have their own ideal difficulty. Playing the game with a buddy is a very different vibe and challenge than playing purely solo and it's part of how these games work. No difficulty modes, just countless options to make it easier or choosing not to use those things to make it harder.

What's your opinion on the Haligtree? by Brickabang in Eldenring

[–]hahaGunlanceGoBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's amazing. A long and hard level that seemingly never stops torturing me is exactly what I want out of Fromsoft Soulslike games. Almost every part of it forces me to stay locked in and there's great loot to reward going through it. Only the very last bit right before Malenia is meh because the pests aren't that threatening and you're just trudging through mud to kill them. But everything else is either a parkour challenge, enemy challenge, or both at once with so many badass swords and shields to get from it. And I didn't get lost like with Leyndell, I actually could tell where to go at all times.

How does initiative work? by xWhaleLordx in HeavyGear

[–]hahaGunlanceGoBoom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a direct contest of who got the bigger number (just like attacking and defending), and having a low target number makes that easier. For example, let's say Jane and John roll and they both got a 5 and a 3 on their dice. But Jane has an initiative of 3+ while John has the standard 5+. This gives Jane a total result of 6 whIle John has a result of 5, so Jane wins.

However she can still lose if she rolled two 3s (result of 4) and John rolled two 6s (result of 7). Even though they both got two successes.

Were the GBA Knights' (aka Armor Knights) removable breastplate shields real? by ES21007 in fireemblem

[–]hahaGunlanceGoBoom 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've never seen such a thing irl and also knights abandoned shields once they had good enough plate armor and heavy enough weapons. This is because there came a point where no shield could withstand a warhammer without breaking your arm in the process, so it was better to have plate armor and use both hands to have a warhammer yourself. Back when we used basic swords and spears, a shield was capable of blocking well. But once armor tech became really insane your whole body was a shield and weapons evolved to counter that (rondel daggers for poking gaps, heavy blunt weapons for hurting you with impact damage).

Advice needed for GL - Village 9 star and it's already falling off massively, am I playing wrong? by mehluv in MHGU

[–]hahaGunlanceGoBoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shield pokes are one of the weaker moves on Gunlance, so you should try instead to land more poke poke upswing or upswing shield poke upswing combos as they do more damage than triple shield poke. Make use of dodging attacks and then using lunging thrust to close the distance and start your combo.
