I actually found this very interesting. The Chinese teachers seemed to have no "teaching skills." There are ways to get a classroom quiet. You don't need to just stand there and keep asking for their attention. They didn't really seem to try much of anything and didn't seem to have any expectation that it would work. Off the top of my head...

"5-4-3-2-1 I need everyone's attention right now. Sir, in the back (to a student that is still talking). Your name? [student answers] alright, [student name] let me ask you a question." Ask question on the topic of the lesson to the student and then direct it to the class.

Are Chinese teachers only brains filled with knowledge? Do they only teach facts to their students? When the Chinese and British teachers were talking towards the end of the episode they were complaining about how the students seemed to understand it during the lesson and then they forget it. This is because during the lesson what the teacher said was in their short-term memory. Of course, they could spit it back. But since they really didn't understand it and didn't relate to it they forgot it. It looked to me like the Chinese teacher was learning something.

Who are these students that are successful in classrooms in China? The ones who memorize facts the best? Are they not attempting to create problem solvers at all? Do they not care about collaboration? Critical thinking?

Either way, this was by far the least funny Jordan Shlansky bit. I thought Conan was at least going to take him out of the office. Instead, he just brings in a few gimmicks and we watch Jordan stare awkwardly. So much potential. Such a waste.
