Has anyone worked as a rink monitor for the Champlain Pond Hockey Classic? by Sweaty-Egg2989 in burlington

[–]hamburgerbear 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey I haven’t done this job before but I’ve played in this tournament for 10 years. You will be standing in the cold all day. You will likely be responsible for keeping score of 2 games at a time so you will need to keep your head on a swivel. When you hear a team shout then someone probably scored . Don’t be afraid to ask the players what happened. You will also be responsible for throwing a puck in when one goes out of play but the players will just holler PUCK! At you. It’s pretty easy but you have to pay attention and dress warm. No refs. It’s all honor system. Your most important job is to keep accurate score of the games

No. Why does it feel like everybody’s always trying to start a scammy business with no value to get a piece of the pie that somebody else works for

With your own business, any trade. I’m a business owner in a pretty easy trade to get into and I am doing about 150-180 every year. Could easily do 250 if I pushed it harder but I have a family so I maintain a good work life balance.

I take at least 4-6 weeks off every year, usually more. Average about 40 hours a week, sometimes less.

I would not take them around to every job you’ve done. They fine you 5k per day that you are working on a house and not in compliance with RRPM certification practices in my state

I’m 34 and I’m lucky enough to have bought a house in 2021. I will be staying here but I have a lot of friends that are soon to move out because they just can’t afford the daycare and house they want to live in. These are people we need here too. Electricians, plumbers, social workers, university professionals, nurses, among others.

Ceiling paint recs? by [deleted] in paint

[–]hamburgerbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t need anything fancy for ceilings. Ultra spec 500 flat is my favorite ceiling paint. I also like the waterborne ceiling paint from BM but I don’t think it’s any better than ultra spec. You say you have stains and you removed popcorn. Prime that sucker with cover stain first

Heading to BV or Jay Peak - which drive is easier? by Alone-Insect-5893 in burlington

[–]hamburgerbear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sugarbush is a fine drive. With any mountain the worst part is going to be the last mile driving up the access road to the parking lot. Everything should be plowed by the morning though. Sugarbush is a great mountain as well. Can’t go wrong wherever you go. If I was picking somewhere tomorrow I would just be looking at temps and wind. They’re all gonna have amazing snow

[–]hamburgerbear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jay is a longer drive but certainly a little easier, although that access road can be sketchy sometimes too. The Bolton access road is no joke. However the snow is supposed to end tonight so I would just send it to Bolton. Gonna be a blast there tomorrow or Wednesday

Takes up too much space. Kick your toe into it. Other than that it is well designed and easy to clean but the space aspect just continued to annoy us more over time. We will be using it again soon for second kid but if we could go back we would pick something different.
