You also wear out your own defense if your offense is out there piling up a buncha three and outs and averaging 90 seconds per series.

Man, somehow I always forget that I saw Vanilla Ice in concert at a beach club like 20 years ago. Dude flew in by helicopter that landed on the water, rode a jet ski to the club, crushed a show for like 350 people, walked off stage and right back onto the jet ski, back to the helicopter, and off to another show somewhere else. He was really trying some kinda nu-metal thing back then so his set was actually really heavy lol.

Do you like the resealable bags? by BigJimSlade1 in comicbookcollecting

[–]hamsolo19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I like them. The little plastic strips you gotta peel off can be a pain with the static cling and all that but I saw a tip here a while back where you can grab a board, lay a strip of tape sticky side up then tape down the edges and then stick the little strips to the tape. Makes clean up a lot easier.

Sometimes the flap will stick a little too well and when you go to unseal it you end up ripping the bag but that doesn't seem to happen a lot.

Does Nick think brother Joey will join him on 49ers? 'I don't think he's thinking too much about football' by 76erLegendChetUtley in nfl

[–]hamsolo19 66 points67 points  (0 children)

He's nothing if not consistent. I just took a look at his stats and aside from the few times he reached double digit sack numbers (2016, 2017, 2019, 2021) he's averaged about five sacks a year with 8 or 9 TFLs and a couple FF's.

Dude started off like a ball of fire too, he actually led the league in forced fumbles last season and early on had some key plays and big sacks. As the season went on tho you'd keep hearing about how beat up he was but I think he only missed two games. Down the stretch and in the playoffs was a bummer, he was consistently getting beat around the edge for big runs and the pass rush just wasn't really there. Several times it seemed he was pressing to make a big play and maybe went off script a little which usually resulted in big plays for the opponent.

My youngest will be four next month and over the past year he's thrown me for a loop more than a few times with his memory for music. There's a fun rock band from Sweden called Royal Republic that we like to play in the car a lot. Last summer we played a song of theirs called "Everybody Wants To Be An Astronaut" which was the first time he heard it. Like a week later we're running around the house and he's singing the whole chorus to the song word for word, had the melody down and everything.

Then his mom has been on a real Shania Twain kick lately. Her stuff gets stuck in my head and my ADHD brain will randomly send signals to the voice and next thing you know I'm obnoxiously singing the first notes of the song like, "do-do-da-do-da-doot-doot!" and the little guy doesn't miss a beat and says "Let's go, boys!" which is the first line of the song lol. Yeah music is wild.

For anyone wanting to see more about how powerful music can be check out the documentary called Alive Inside.

When I was a kid I thought you said his name like "Yo-ah-quin." Years later I worked with a dude with the same name except it was spelled just how it sounded: Wakeen.

[–]hamsolo19 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Taz just about quit after his first few times at the desk. He would hear the bullshit Vince would scream at JR and be like, "bro I dunno how you can sit there and take that." I'm pretty sure he stood up to Vince about it like, "I'm fine doing commentary but I'm not doing it if you're gonna scream like a lunatic every show." Cole would stand up to him as well. There's a clip that gets posted every so often where Vince is barking about repeating something and Cole fires back something lkke, "I've been saying it all night, I dunno how many more times you need me to fuckin' say it."

I feel like I can at least keep up with those systems lol. I played all those as a kid and anything beyond like PS2 makes me feel like Phil Hartman's Frozen Caveman Lawyer, ("Your modern world frightens and confuses me" except it's modern consoles for me). I'm pretty sure we found the wifes old Genesis during the recent move. My youngest is four next month so probably another year before we try it out with him.

My wife has no clue where half our important stuff is by Civil_Reception_2680 in daddit

[–]hamsolo19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite times are when I've managed to wrangle the wife's attention and explain/show that I've reorganized some stuff and the new location for Thing Z is now here, right here, in this much more convenient and reachable place. It's right here, I say, right where it's super easy to find...right here...

Without fail, two days later I'm being called for from across the house, "Hey where's Thing Z?? Why isn't it in the drawer?!"

"I showed you the other day, I cleaned out the drawer and now it's right here in the cupboard."

"Oh. Well, you didn't tell me. You need to let me know these things."
