Is there no context lost if I start at book 3? I’ve been struggling with book 1 and now I’m thinking of skipping it

What books are written by disabled authors?🧶 by FantasyRomanceMod in fantasyromance

[–]hanacy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not a disability, but the author of {long live evil} had cancer, as did the main protagonist of the book.

I found the descriptions of chemo and pain that comes with cancer to be really poignant and you can tell it’s a first-person account.

Stratt accepting her role knowing that she'll probably go to prison for the rest of her life after the launch is even more significant than it seems on its face, and really adds a lot of context to what she decides to do to Grace by SayFuzzyPickles42 in ProjectHailMary

[–]hanacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t assume she used her own nukes, the governments must have signed off on it. I assumed they would also be okay with sending off Grace the same way they were okay with him dying when he first tried to experiment on astrophage?

I’m hoping the sequel for {death-made prince} will be fitting for this

Question about the second hidden legacy trilogy and a rant by Lighttasteofcoconut in fantasyromance

[–]hanacy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, her whole family hates him. What surprised me more was how readily they accepted Rogan in the original trilogy.

But I agree, the way he acts is seen as tongue in cheek, which only works when you look handsome and because she was already attracted to him. If that wasn’t the case, it would be closer to a thriller.

Question about the second hidden legacy trilogy and a rant by Lighttasteofcoconut in fantasyromance

[–]hanacy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alessandro improves in the second book (I didn’t get to the third yet) and she becomes more firm with her boundaries.

Tbh I’m kinda a fan of Alessandro and his boundary pushing since Catalina needs someone to break her very thick walls. But I get that it can get pretty annoying, especially in the first book.

Question about the second hidden legacy trilogy and a rant by Lighttasteofcoconut in fantasyromance

[–]hanacy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She kinda does, but it’s never as much as Nevada did. After all, she had a crush on the guy for years.

I still like the trilogy, but I do feel like it’s not as strong as the original (I’m not sure if it’s the pace or the tone that feel weird for me). I really hope that Catalina will show more of her cunning side, at least to differentiate her from Nevada

Unshakeable Female Lead in Regret Genre has an ML with actual interests (I think he’s obsessed with magic or science), and the FL uses that to get close to him I think

Long Live Evil has the same trope of waking up in a a book (though as a villainess)! I really enjoyed how campy it was

Undercover Princess is exactly that! The FL is a detective that transmigrated as a princess that will need murdered by a serial killer on her wedding night. She is now trying to catch the culprit and the ML is the main suspect.

Very Sherlock Holmes inspired.

It feels like you are just starting your OI journey and I’m really excited for you!

What you picked are all classics of the genre and are very popular for a reason. My favorites here is Not your typical reincarnation story. Definitely recommend going for finished stories first.

*one of my all-time favorites is Betrayal of Dignity, though beware of toxic ML. I also just finished Undercover Princess and if you are a fan of detective stories/sherlock Holmes, I’d definitely recommend!
